I have to disagree here. My wife and I both offer to make each others plates depending on the situation. Most of the time one of us is handling getting the kids food made or getting them settled to eat so we offer as a nice gesture to each other.
I dont see how thats a douchebag thing to do. Douchebag would be getting my plate and eating while my wife is still getting the kids settles and then still has to make her plate.

My stepdad makes my mom do this.
I need to get some pointers from him.

fine by me, I hate most shopping, especially clothes/shoe shopping

My Mom has fixed my Dad's plate since they got together in 1980. I don't see anything wrong with it.
She will even cook him 'special' meals and she will eat a grilled chicken salad. She's just nurturing that way and that's how it's always been.
ETA: He has never FORCED her and never would. She just likes doing for others like me :)

My wife does the cooking, so she fixes the plates of food unless it's something more conducive to self-serve. We do nice things for each other while still respecting each other.

You take food to go when you eat at someone's house? That's reprehensible.

I'm the life of the party. however, after I eat........I go straight to bed. I can't drink anymore. so.......no one lets me eat.

I don't "make" my wife fix my plate. It's just something she's done for years without me ever asking.
As for being "helpless", I'm quite capable of placing food on a plate and do so whenever she's not around.
as for being "repressive", how is it repressive when she does it totally voluntarily? Is it repressive when I do things for her?
And how is it being a douchebag when your SO fixes your plate? I know this may come as a shock, but generally when in a loving and healthy relationship, SO's will want to do things for each other. This is one of the main ways affection for your SO is shown.
And finally, you sound like a miserable, whiney, SJW looking for something to bitch about.

My ex and I would fix each other's food often. If she is enjoying something and I am cooking I will gladly fix her plate, and likewise. You want a woman to frick the shite out of you, bring her breakfast in bed. Or is me bringing her breakfast in bed bending to her will too much? She would do the same for me often.

My husband never makes me. I always offer. Sometimes he wants me to make it and sometimes he does it himself.

My wife brings me breakfast in bed every morning. Sorry she treats me right, brah.

I do all the cooking. Not only do I fix my plate, I fix the plates for the entire family. I feel it's part of the meal preparation.
No way in hell would I let my SO make my plate, however. Even if she insisted, I'd never stoop to that level of douchbaggery

My wife has me fix her plate...is she controlling?
It comes down to reciprocation.
