I remember Gardere. The nice Gardere, with affordable housing for LSU students and young married couples in a well-maintained, safe neighborhood.
In the late '80s I lived near Gardere. It was perfect for students -- on the bus line to LSU, and there was a Piggly Wiggly grocery store at the corner of Gardere and Burbank. It was especially good for student couples struggling to work and attend school. I visited people there a few times -- I don't recall any complaints. And of course any time I went there I always felt perfectly SAFE.
In the early 90s I left BR and didn't return for about 10 years. When I came back I was talking with a friend and the subject of Gardere came up. Remembering it from my student days, I talked about what a nice student area it was.
"Are you kidding?", he said, and proceeded to tell me what had happened to the area, including a friend of his from church going there to minister -- and getting stabbed.
Later we were driving around and came to the intersection of Burbank and Gardere.
What had been a great place -- affordable, safe, on the LSU bus line and with a Piggly Wiggly for convenient shopping -- was now a slum. The Piggly Wiggly was gone and the shopping center deserted.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I asked my friend what the hell had happened.
He replied simply, "Section 8".

That’s actually the part the city of BR didn’t include when they annexed the Lauberge Casino.

Do the sounds of sirens cause perps to stop shooting and start running away?

I was in the back and thought it was pretty obvious that it was coming from across Gardere but apparently someone in the front of park started screaming that the gunman was in the park and that caused everyone to start running.
100% chance this panic was caused by a retarded screeching white female

Guaranteed that the shooter has previous violent charges that would have had him in prison currently, but were pled down and he was given time served, probation or completely dropped.
Nah, Hillar would never.

And someone reminded me 2018 playoff game had a shooting about half a mile away cleared field for 10 mins. Extremely orderly. Sadly now adays this scenario is part of pregame conferences.

Most people know this isn’t true. But you know what? St George is a reality now so why do you keep spreading these lies? That’s racist.

First and foremost it was a great decision.
Also, it’s still waiting for BR to take it. Why doesn’t BR push to annex it???
But this has been rehashed so many times one would have to be an idiot to not truly know that the original attempt to form St. George had all of the unincorporated areas in the South, ESE, and SE parts of EBR including this crappy area (used same boundaries as the once proposed SE EBR school district), but an official conveniently threw out enough signatures to not allow it to get on a ballot.
The StG organizers then used the information from signatures to see where there was more or less support of registered voters for StG. They then redrew the boundaries without areas on perimeter that showed very little support of St George for the their next attempt which was ultimately passed by the people.

As do I.
My then girlfriend (now missus) lived there while at LSU in the 80s. Never thought twice about it. There was a ShowBiz video in the strip mall and a Piggly Wiggly where the Ideal is now. Lots of students and solid blue collar folks (white and black).
A complete shithole now and has been since the late 90s/early 2000s.

BR
Huh?
Traction/Gardere is not in the BR city limits. That’s why there’s an EBRSO substation right there.
It’s also not St. George. It’s unincorporated EBR Parish.

I'm pretty sure they have shot spot or whatever it is called in that area. They'll know exactly where the shots came from.
