Make sure to get away from the touristy areas and blend in with the locals. Some areas of Gulf Shores have bad crime and nobody speaks English. Those areas have the best restaurants. Don't wear touristy stuff and the drug cartels will leave you alone. Go exploring the woods in Alabama and you may see locals making tamales in their front yards. Don't just hang out at the condo, get out amongst the locals and have fun is the only way to do it. Amirite?

The Beach Club.

If you want the beach, don't go stay at the Caribe.

Rooms are nice, but not a big enough difference to justify the price.

i dont know if they are all the same, but our room was huge. 3 BD 3 baths, huge kitchen/dining/living area.

Yeah, sounds just like ours. Still overpriced, imo.

Keep driving and go to Okaloose Island ... only about 10 minutes from Destin and not NEARLY as populated/crowded as Gulf Shores/Orange Beach

This. Stayed on Okaloosa Island in April and loved it. More family friendly and just a short drive to Destin for more dining options. Will stay there instead of anywhere else in the future.

I live in Orange Beach and if I was going to stay anywhere it would be Beach Club first and then Martinique in Fort Morgan. Kiva Dunes has beach front rentals that you can get very reasonably as well, if you are a golfer.

This. We stayed last year after doing Phoenix West for the previous 3 years. We are returning to Turquoise in July

Check out Oceania. It's the same size as the turquoise, but not as nice. Good price for the size.

Every year, my folks rent a big 4br in Phoenix West for half a week and take all the kids and grandkids. It's awesome, but you kinda need ot baller status to pull it off. Me and the kids usually rent at one of the trashy phoenix 1-4's for a weekend as well just to be able to get an extra mini-vacation without being financially raped by Brent-Robinson. Only downside is every other redneck has Bama shite all over them.

Beach Club is great too, I prefer Martinique b/c there are about 1/4 the people on the beach at Martinique. Take it from the guy that lives there he'd know before any of us 'tourists'.

Will you guys shut up about the Beach club. It's nice because most people don't know it exists.

I see several comments about the trashy folks and I just don't get it. We go either the week before or the week of Memorial Day and I've just never seen that much of a trashy crowd and never thought the beaches were all that crowded. And we've stayed and many areas from Gulf Shores down to Sandestin.

Once exception was a trip to Pensacola Beach in early June. Def. trashy.

We always stay at Summer House in Orange Beach. Very good location, indoor and outdoor pool, lots of LSU fans.

I haven't seen any trashy comments in this thread until yours

And you can't make fun of Livingston parish types every chance you get then defend the redneck riviera cause you go there.

I've been 3 times and have 2 more trips planned this summer but I accept it for what it is and have a good time.
