several academics respond:

The project exposes some of the cultish ideas shared by faculty who have created fake subjects and staffed their departments with political activists. Many faculty in these departments seem alarmingly eager to hijack for their own ends the emotional circuitry of teenagers who arrive on campus in search of a tribe to join and a dragon to slay.

Lastly, and most importantly, there is evidence from this experiment, and from the literature in which it is embedded, of a great change in perceptions about what constitutes vice. When I grew up something like the following order of badness prevailed: murder (the worst), followed by serious physical violence, cheating and lying, nasty shouting, nasty speaking and at the milder end, nasty thinking. This has changed. There is evidence that many scholars favour punitive thought-reform. Orwell had a word for this.

This is hilarious and proves what is wrong in academia!

If this were the extent of the problem, we could laugh it off as a strange new sport that occurs on college quads rather than in football stadiums. But it is much worse than this. The main problem is not the rise of trendy disciplines with names that end with the word “studies,” or the opportunity cost of spending taxpayer money on bogus scholarship and bad education rather than medical research and space exploration. The problem is that many students are required to take these classes as part of a “diversity” requirement at universities, and that when students graduate, these ideas influence leaders of corporations like Google, which can manipulate its search engine to alter elections and change our epistemic environment in subtle ways.

Some of the most insidious dogmas many faculty in these fields defend include the idea that evolutionary biology can explain animal behavior but isn’t relevant to people; that differences in personality and intelligence can only be explained by education and parenting (not genes); that IQ tests don’t predict anything useful; that differences in outcomes for different groups can only be explained by oppression or systemic racism/sexism; and that five decades of behavioral genetics research can be safely ignored when it threatens environmental explanations. These are the dangers of our time. It is worth reminding those who subsidize this circus that we’re not in Las Vegas.

Part III might be some of the most important words written since 2000:
quote:
Underlying these alleged “social constructions” is the most deeply concerning of them all. This is the belief that in urgent need of “disrupting” is the simple truth that science itself—along with our best methods of data-gathering, statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, falsifying, and replicating results—is generally a better way of determining information about the objective reality of any observable phenomenon than are non-scientific, traditional, cultural, religious, ideological, or magical approaches. That is, for grievance studies scholars, science itself and the scientific method are deeply problematic, if not outright racist and sexist, and need to be remade to forward grievance-based identitarian politics over the impartial pursuit of truth. These same issues are also extended to the “Western” philosophical tradition which they find problematic because it favors reason to emotion, rigor to solipsism, and logic to revelation.
As a result, radical constructivists tend to believe science and reason must be dismantled to let “other ways of knowing” have equal validation as knowledge-producing enterprises. These, depending on the branch of “theory” being invoked, are allegedly owned by women and racial, cultural, religious, and sexual minorities. Not only that, they are deemed inaccessible to more privileged castes of people, like white heterosexual men. They justify this regressive thinking by appealing to their alternative epistemology, called “standpoint theory.” This results in an epistemological and moral relativism which, for political reasons, promotes ways of knowing that are antithetical to science and ethics which are antithetical to universal liberalism.

This article is an incredibly rich and exciting contribution to the study of sexuality and culture, and particularly the intersection between masculinity and anality. … This contribution, to be certain, is important, timely, and worthy of publication
What about a finger in the butthole during a bj?
Will that make me more masculine?
Posted on 10/3/18 at 4:14 pm to tigercross
that speaks to the primary issue of peer-review of research in humanities...there is no "data" to review/verify, only text. the checking off of boxes for buzzwords obscures otherwise smart people from even realizing they are reading GIBBERISH

1. Create a study staying a finger up the lower colon during a bj will make you more masculine. Make up whatever data you need.
2. Reframe it as an article advising women not to finger jam the ‘ol poop chute during oral, for fear of creating more toxic masculinity
3. Submit it to one of these journals
4. Profit! A peer reviewed study saying you’ll be more masculine with a finger in your arse!

Sad thing is that all the of the “hoax” authors expect to be fired and/or blackballed now, for exposing the truth.

Depends on which finger he's using. Index finger is ok, thumb is bad news.

There you go. Leftists are fascists.

Didn’t read through but did the scholars hope to have actual jobs in academia after this? Outside of Hillsdale College I mean

The left is truly a socialist and sociopathic society in one. They want to pay for higher education for academic frauds who will spend day and night publishing this horseshite (I think the trolling is great though...that's essentially what they inadvertently are). They keep each other afloat with all of this.
And everything gets blamed on Trump.

Exactly. These guys exposed a segment of academia and likley destroyed their own careers in the process. They'll be attacked and their message ignored/drowned out by the cult of academia.
