The venue is going to lose a shite ton more money by not just giving them a refund under the circumstances

they do have a duty to mitigate. If they can rent it out, they must do that and refund as much money as they charge for that date.

They don't have to do anything. They can keep all the money if they want and nobody will be able to do anything about it

I thought this was a bumped thread. I feel like we had nearly this exact one a couple years ago.

You only thinking about the owner of the venue. You also need to remember they have employees that probably work 2-3 days a week (make most of their money on weekends).
Some single mother, relying on the money she makes on Friday and Saturday nights, loses 1/2 her income that week. All because a guy killed himself, and the family wants their money back.

He killed himself. It wasn’t a sad accident. No sympathy for them. The venue is right.

They should have just 50/50 that at the very least. Personally, I wouldn't use this venue after that news.

You at least give them half back if not all. The capital loss is nothing compared to the bad press they got.

frick the media for even making this a story. He killed himself. They’re trying to twist it like he died in a car accident. He chose that path. The bride can deal with it.

plans. “Everyone reimbursed us except for the venue. They have a policy in the contract about no refunds unless it’s in 90 days,” Cervantes said.

But, it’s hurting them in the long run. The are getting lit up on social media, etc, probably will cost them more in the long run.

I have no sympathy for the venue. They chose to play hardball, fricked around and found out.

bullshite, the bride wouldn’t have posted shite if they refunded the money. Now even if they refund the trolls will still be out. It’s a contract, sorry not sorry

how much extra love (and business) did the other vendors get after giving a refund? I’m sure the bride-not-to-be through them a ton of praise across every platform she could, right?

Exactly. Social media is built to spread the negative shite. And yet there are clowns in here that think the business should take the L because they want to break the contract. It doesn’t matter what the reason is, it’s a contract
