Any links to the social media outrage? That’s where we will find the good comments.

These kind of venues stay booked. They're probably booked through the New Year. By the time they have an open date this story will be old news. Whether they give a refund or not is not going to affect their bottom line.

"Brayleigh, we can't book at that venue, because Kevin might commit suicide and we won't get refunded."

Since they couldn’t get a refund they said they wanted all the food they were going to provide, they gave it to them, it was a ton of food, we ate good off of it for a week

Lol, no. They can and will fill that slot.

You're pretty ignorant of how wedding venues work.

At less than two weeks out, that money has already been spent on on the decorators, florists, caterers, etc.

The way they are talking, it’s venue only. Sounds like caterers, florists, etc all gave refunds

Bride and groom choose to hold a reception there. Bride and groom sign a contract stating no refunds.

The venue holds true to the contract.

Bride (or whomever) goes on social media to tell everyone about it and whine about the contract she signed?

I blame the bride (or whomever), not the private business. Yes, it would be awesome for a business to show sympathy and take a hit, but a business is there to make money. You can’t expect a business to always take loses and always donate to causes, charity, fundraisers, etc.

I think the venue should come up with some sort of a prorated agreement out of decency where the family and the venue both recover some of the loss.

The love they would be getting on social media is worth more than a lost booking.

They should’ve just had the party anyway … we’ve all had that friend that’s had the prospective spouse walk out on them a few days before

Hold the funeral pyre there. Win-win-win.

You at least give them half back if not all. The capital loss is nothing compared to the bad press they got.

Yeah I don't think the family should expect a full refund because the place does have expenses to pay for but half is very reasonable for both parties. Giving nothing just makes you look like a pos scum bag venue owner

This is one of those situations where the venue is in the right, but they look like huge assholes and are going to wish they refunded the money with how much future business they lose
