pack of two ribeyes

We've just been getting a large, thick single steak and splitting it. Add a few sides, and it makes a full meal.
Steak, small salad, baked potato, and some green beans

Not only are the prices ridiculous but the quality is low. A lot of them are really lean and poorly cut. My grocer keeps 15-20 two-packs of ribeyes on the meat shelves and there are times when none of them are worth buying.

We have done that for years as well. I rarely can eat more than like 4oz. One big strip that we split it fine for us.

Items that where once middle class staples are now luxury goods of the wealthy. Sad.

Maybe they will announce 1 year beef loans at this rate

Funny/sad that people probably do put groceries on credit cards without immediately paying them off. And then. SNAP bros just pick up the steaks for free.

For the first time ever, my local butcher who owns, slaughters and sells his beef is cheaper than the grocery store.

And the quality is miles apart. It's a wonderful thing to buy fresh, unfrozen beef from the same county it's sold in, and it actually looks like a real piece of meat is supposed to look like after being processed and vacuum sealed 3 days before I put it on the grill (hint: it's not neon blood red colored and without natural moisture).

I'm still getting all the cuts at $4.00 lbs straight through from our family ranch. We charge non-family 4.50 a lbs per cow.

That's why I buy whole slabs of beef and break it down myself. I got a whole boneless Prime N.Y. Strip for $11.99 a lb., trimmed off about 2 lbs. of fat to render down to make tallow and cut up the meat into 1 1/2 in. thick steaks and got 14 out of the slab.

I kept 2 out to grill that day and vacuum sealed the rest 2 to a pack for later use.

Grill them to no more than medium rare, have a loaded baked potato and some sauteed mushrooms as a side and it's like heaven.

tell me you know nothing about the cattle industry, without telling me you know nothing.

Cargill, JBS, Tyson, National Beef, those guys have been making a killing for 20 years through troughs and booms while your rancher has finally, finally been able to make enough to invest in their ranch.

The land costs, feed costs, other input costs has skyrocketed the past 10 years without any nominal increase in cattle prices. Now that cattle prices have gone up accordingly you’re feeling it in the grocery. Inflation sucks.

Need store name and grade of beef before I can judge if you know where to buy good inexpensive meat.

Drought caused beef quantities to be reduced. Prices are going to be high until the livestock numbers can bounce back.
