It would be if they didn’t taste so bad. You really have to do quite a lot to make them not taste disgusting.

Had grilled guinea pig in Peru, was tasty and pretty common. More like pork.

There is a restaurant in Queens that openly sells it.

If I recall, real video but many years old and not NYC

I’ve noticed this is the go-to move when people see videos they don’t like. Claim it’s “old”, without offering any proof, then acting like that delegitimizes what the video shows.

I just like all the folks pretending eating roasting guini pig on the streets of NY is completely normal because it’s eaten in 3rd world countries.

My go-to reply to the "Would you eat...." question is always, "If I were hungry enough."

That's the truth. I never give an empathic "No" when asked if I would eat something in particular. Circumstance will dictate that decision. That said, I wouldn't order guinea pig off a menu, but I also wouldn't be pissed if someone unknowingly slipped a guinea pig taco into the mix during a night of tacos and drinking. Hell, it would probably be good.

Are they buying them at Petco? Can't imagine there are herds of feral Guinea Pigs running around NYC, but you never know. Wouldn't imagine that would be very cost-efficient if so.
