Huey Pierce Long/Edwin Edwards
Both brilliant, consummate professional politicians.
Both had enough legislative support to effect wonders for Louisiana had they been so motivated.

Lee was terrified of Alabama
He threw 7 interceptions and 1 touchdown in 58 career attempts. Alabama was his boogeyman

Marcus Aurelius sent an ambassador to China to discuss a possible alliance as both empires were vaugely aware of each other and seemingly respected each other's assumed power.
The ambassador's convoy was left and all was going well. Until they realized they hadn't brought regal gifts for the Chinese they were going to visit.
Panicking, they bought some horse tack to the middle of Central Asia on the trip.
When they arrived at the Han court, they presented their gifts. The Chinese were so insulted, they turned the Roman delegation away and assumed that the rumors they had heard of were nothing but rumors
Wow, I'd never heard this story before. It's almost impossible to fathom what could have resulted had their diplomatic mission been successful.

Christianity is likely wiped out in Europe for the most part if this happens. France would have inevitably fallen, and Italy soon afterwards. Considering that Christianity was pretty fragile in Britain in the 7th century, it is possible that with Christianity failing in continental Europe that the heathens prevail in Britain.
It is likely that without Charles Martel, Christianity likely would have been completely wiped out in the proceeding centuries.

What if Hitler condemns the bombing of Pearl Harbor instead of declaring war on the United States.

Patton gets his way and instead of allowing the Russians to take Berlin, the Germans surrender to the U.S. and join forces to fight the Russians. With their American supplies cut off, the allies and remaining Germans in Northern Italy smash into the Russian army besieging Berlin and completely route it. The Red Army collapses and the Soviet Union is forced to negotiate surrender at Yalta rather than taking control of all of eastern Europe.

I always thought it would be interesting if the Marquis de Lafayette was able to successfully get Napoleon out of France, and into the USA. But in the end, the British had powerful navy that made it too difficult, and thus Napoleon was sent to St. Helena.

If the assassination of 1914 would have never happened, Austria doesn't invade Serbia. Then no WW1, Nazis, WW2, Soviet Union, nuclear age, etc......things would be sooo much different today.

That's possible. But everything I've ever read was war was destined to break out in one form or another. Too many nations were in Arms races not too

Then, the Greyskinned aliens swoop down in their star transports (with Bigfoot acting as navigator) to move the European forces into Australia so they can frick the Aussies up so they don't take over the world in 3824.

The state of Alabama has some interesting "what ifs". There were several attempts to annex to the panhandle of Florida into Alabama. Think about the beach/vacation revenue that could've been generated from that deal.
The Birmingham airport was also in consideration for the Delta hub, which ended up in ATL. This turned the ATL into a major economic player for the city, as well as the state. Ultimately it was the time zone that led to ATL getting the deal, but just think about much less of a dumb Alabama would've been if those deals had been sealed.

Much less of a dumb, indeed.
You from North Alabama or South?
