Marcus Aurelius sent an ambassador to China to discuss a possible alliance as both empires were vaugely aware of each other and seemingly respected each other's assumed power.

The ambassador's convoy was left and all was going well. Until they realized they hadn't brought regal gifts for the Chinese they were going to visit.

Panicking, they bought some horse tack to the middle of Central Asia on the trip.

When they arrived at the Han court, they presented their gifts. The Chinese were so insulted, they turned the Roman delegation away and assumed that the rumors they had heard of were nothing but rumors

Spoiler for On the Waterfront

Spoiler

Spoiler

I thought On the Waterfront was fine and I rarely ever think this way but I do think it would have been a better movie if he had died at the end.

Bismarck renews Germany's alliance with Russia in the late 1800's rather than inexplicably allowing it to lapse.

Lee was terrified of Alabama

He threw 7 interceptions and 1 touchdown in 58 career attempts. Alabama was his boogeyman

The Trinity Shot fizzles and the US is forced into a meatgrinder on the Japanese Home Islands while the Soviets roll up Western Europe.

The more I think about it, the more I realize an invasion wasn't necessary. While I think dropping the abombs was the best option and should have been done, if not, we could have just blockaded Japan into oblivion with our superior fleet. Japan has no resources.

What I find peculiar about On the Waterfront, is that one of the most famous scenes in American cinema history (I could of been a contender) is not even the best scene in the movie imo.

Karl Malden kills it in this scene.
This is my church!

Apologies if this rant is better suited for the Movie Board.

Could they sustain the naval presence required for that indefinitely in 1945, though? The U.S. had been at war 4 years in the Pacific by that point and was war weary.

Earl " The Goat" Manigault

quote:

When Kareem Abdul-Jabbar finished his career with the Los Angeles Lakers and had his number retired at the Los Angeles Forum, he was asked who was the greatest player he had played with or against and he responded by saying Manigault.

Trump and Russia, for the Democratic party. They'd love nothing more.

Inthink you could argue it'd be less expensive and definitly result in less lives being lost. The US economy was booming under the war and it could have sustained a longer war. It's not perfect but better than a Japanese naval invasion, sure
