Sounds like she had a stroke or heart attack

Since when is there supposed to be life saving equipment and trained medical professionals every where you go?

Those people were smart not to help her, they would have sued them for trying to intervene.

And you want to require someone to know how to operate this?

It wouldn’t have made a difference what was on that boat, this family was going to sue them regardless. They would have just said the crew operates the equipment wrong

These people need to be run out of court and made to pay all court costs for Sandals.

Based on the article I'm calling BS. I have been to Beaches at Turks several times in the past eighteen years. It has been my families favorite vacation spot. We have been on the day trip snorkeling each time and there is Safety equipment on the catamaran, including oxygen, the crew goes over procedures, all are required to wear the life vest (even if certified SCUBA) and members of the crew are in the water watching everyone. The article say they were in the Atlantic and that is wrong, as this trip stays in Grace Key which is almost like swimming in awesome pool, very few waves. If it does look rough do to wind, the crew will not let you out and take you Iguana Island to hang out.

Once discovery is done, I will bet there is health issues present that the family didn't know or disclose.

WTF are you talking about? Only thing non qualified medical people can do is CPR, doesn't look like this is the case here. If someone is needing oxygen or to be intubated, there is no way any service like this that could afford to keep that level of medical profession on staff for every snorkel session. They did the right thing and called an ambulance.

The family also claims the company offered them a free five-day stay as compensation.

When I was learning scuba, the onstructor said it wasn't uncommon to have people try to sign up who didn't know how to swim.

I got certified at this resort (Beaches) and had half of the class quit in the first 15 minutes. They could not tread water in the damn pool! My Instructor just shook his head.

Anyone who travels outside this country needs to understand that the rest of the world doesn't have the safety standards we have here. Expecting life saving equipment on board? You lucky if the boat doesn't take on water.

This is Sandals, the snorkel and scuba boats all have limited first aid training and life vests. They can do CPR, they cannot intubate your arse on the boat and expecting that level is moronic.

Yes, sure it is. Very basic stuff. Well... until you consider the cost of “basic stuff” that is very rarely... if ever... used. Of course “basic stuff” really does well when kept in a marine environment. Sure, just “basic stuff “ will last years in a salty environment with high humidity, spray, etc... batteries in “basic stuff” offshore are known to last a very long time.

Yep, just plain old “basic stuff” to cover every single possible medical emergency that can happen on a boat or in the water. Each individual accident, illness, or other problem has basic stuff that can help. When you start multiplying all these things that can happen by 2 “basic items... stuff” it quickly gets to be a huge unmanageable list of shite to keep up with, certify, inspect, recertify, calibrate, etc...

It wasn’t an ambulance cruise dickhead. You literally make zero sense.

Why not, a gay cop got 10.1 million(was agreed upon deal) for not getting promoted, because he was gay and flamboyant. Who knows, they could break the bank.

People die because of negligence and barely get a million or 2, but gay cop gets 10.1(down from original 20mil) because they passed him over for promotions. What a World, and dumb juries.

Just looking for a settlement. Lawyers know that companies will pay them to go away.
