She signed a release, family ain’t getting shite
That release means nothing. NOTHING
The release is nothing more than a trick because they want you to think you can’t sue. Reality is you always can sue.

Feels like there is more to her death we’ve not learned yet. The only way I see her family getting any money is if they can prove she was not intoxicated or impaired, and she was knowingly given faulty snorkeling gear

I bet they wish they were in Grande Isle.
We elect judges and legislators and governors who love to support trial lawyers.
Sample our tv ads and billboards if in doubt.
Put a limit on their fees and watch this garbage dwindle.

I don't know. Wouldn't this be governed under Turks and Caicos law? How would that affect things?

A Texas family is suing Sandals Resorts after the matriarch of their family drowned while vacationing at one of its resorts. The family also claims the company offered them a free five-day stay as compensation.

I didn’t suggest that. Not even remotely.
“until you consider the cost of “basic stuff” that is very rarely... “
It’s Sandals. Not some poor boat dude.

If they alleged that, the paper didn’t even pick up on it. Which wouldn’t be unusual in newspapers reporting legal stories.

It sounds like the boat guys were hauling arse back to shore versus trying to save her on the spot. To me it sounds like they did the right thing knowing they were not medical professionals. I would be shocked if they are found liable for not trying to resuscitate one of their patrons right there on the boat.

It doesn't say at what point she lost consciousness. She was struggling to breath when she got back on the snorkel boat. So unless you are a trained medical professional, nothing you can do for her besides rush her to the nearest medical facility, which on the boat is get her somewhere to get an ambulance, which it sounds like they did.
If she lost consciousness, then most likely the only option they have is CPR because the snorkel boats on a Sandals facility aren't usually like the nice big dive boats that come from Louisiana and have room for doing an AED, they are usually little flat glass bottom boats you wouldn't want someone using an AED around a boat full of wet people. Hell even CPR on those smaller boats wouldn't be easy when trying to get them back to land fast.

And regretfully, most people do. Money hungry, greed filled populous that has little to no shame.

sounds like she did not really drown. if she was breathing when she got back on the boat

Apparently they should have had a full medical facility
At minimum a certified CPR instructor.

Should lifeguards at neighborhood pools know how to drive a boat?
