Gramps cigarette ash must've burned his arm causing him to drop the baby.

Probably not that, considering an 18 month old toddler average 25-30lbs... So most likely grandpa was holding her either standing or sitting on the balcony rails and she wiggled out of his grip... Still stupid, tragic, and inexcusable.

Kid was obviously gonna have a shitty life so Gramps just did what planned parenthood urges him to do. Everyone is better off this way.

This is even fricking worse cause this means the child was terrified out of her little mind before being sent to her death by her fricking retarded arsehole grandfather. I hope this guy dies a torturous death.

This makes me sick, I don’t know what I would do if my father or father in law did this to my child. I don’t think I could see either one of them ever again. Easily wouldn’t let the father in law in my house ever again. Would be tough to deal with my father. Can’t imagine the strain it would put on a marriage. Tough situation.

Here's the latest. I'm not buying this story for a second.

If one window is open there would be breeze going through it
If you have the life of a toddler in your hands, do you not think that maybe you'd put your hand out just to, you know, make sure there's actually a barrier there?
If there was a railing that was part of this window wall, how did he think her legs were fitting between the railing and the window?
I just don't think someone could be so stupid as to think there is a window 6 inches from their face and have there one not be...to their utter shock.
I'm guessing the guy knew damn well it was open to the outside/below, and was sitting her on the railing and she simply squirmed off.
ETA: here's one picture that appears to have an open window in that specific area. All the other closed windows have tint on them, which is a dead giveaway, and they also...have an actual window in them that you can see, feel, and which blocks the wind.

All glass I have ever seen on cruise ship balconies and public areas have a bluish tint to it, easy to see that it's there or not there, and if she be sat on the railing, then obviously there is no glass in that spot.
This is just excuse making.

I would like to see the follow-up to this story in November when the family all (well what's left of the family) meets for Thanksgiving Dinner! I suspect Thanksgiving will be a time for celebration by some who want to get rid of their pent up emotions.

Bingo. I'm sure that their negligence at a minimum will be clearly displayed, which should still result in jail time. But they'll probably try and pin liability for his idiocy on the cruise line. You can already see them setting the stage for it in their quotes.
quote:
"Why in the world would you leave a window open in an entire glass wall full of windows in a kid's area?" he asked.
Hey guy, the only way the kid got out of it was because an idiot lifted her out.
