ETA: here's one picture that appears to have an open window in that specific area. All the other closed windows have tint on them, which is a dead giveaway, and they also...have an actual window in them that you can see, feel, and which blocks the wind.
Look at this picture and tell me that the guy had no idea there wasn't a pane of glass there. Come the eff on.

You're right, MJ did the same thing but most people didn't realize he was certified on the No. 3 Captains of Crush Gripper.

Im shipping gramps to the worst most poor run-down nursing home that I can find. I may not be even be able to speak to him again.

If I was the idiot Grandpa... I would probably just jump after the kid. Sure, I would die, but the narrative would hopefully be changed to:
Grandpa heroically tried to save falling toddler, but tragically killed along with toddler.
Better to go out like that than to live with the guilt of killing your granddaughter.

Only a fricking idiot would even do this.

What would not surprise me: This cruise ship has a camera that caught the actual incident (it's a new ship, and those things have tons of cameras)
Would would surprise me: It ends up that their ridiculous story is true

ly grandpa was holding her either standing or sitting on the balcony rails and she wiggled out of his grip.
tbh if I'm that toddler 11 stories up, there is no way I am wiggling at all, I'd be holding onto gramps like Vanilla Ice onto Suge Knight.

Now the family is suing the cruise line.

ABC news just said they're waiting to see surveillance video.
This is horrible. I can't imagine it having been one of my children.
BUT AT WHAT POINT DOES PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY EVER ENTER INTO ANYTHING LIKE THIS?????
Come on man. Child is dead and it's terrible but no one is looking to Gramps for doing a dumb thing???

From one pic it seemed like being open would have been obvious and would have had to have been picked up to get to level and held to have not fallen backwards even if glass was there in front. The family released photo of child leaning against an ice skating ring would make more sense if panel missing was ground level, but so far that doesn’t appear to be the case.
I think family and grandfather are trying to hold it & themselves together by trying to blame cruise ship (and maybe still fear criminal charges of some kind). Lost a child/grandchild and probably split family who would normally be trying to come together and support each other in situation if an outsider were the cause.

The dad released a photo taken of the window he took at night to prove his point of open or closed window. This event did not take place at night. I think the father should be arrested for this falsification of evidence for not taking a picture at the proper time of day the event occurred.

The grandpa might have been trying to bless the child like Kunte Kinte blessed Kizzy?

And the family is blaming the ship having an open window.

It doesn’t anymore. Everything is either blamed on a third party, or the “terrible situation.”

I pray that their time left in this world is as short as possible, and that a merciful God will reunite them with that beautiful child as soon as possible, in a place where even this wound can be healed. The lawyer shite is a dead end.

Why would anyone even bring a toddler on a cruise. Just sounds miserable
