anything bigger than a five you put on top of the cash register until after you make change. That way you don’t trust your memory. It wasn’t uncommon for people to come into the beer joint and try to tell you they gave you 100 when they only gave you a 20

Yup. Worked a shitty retail job during college and learned I was best off doing this after about day 2 of dealing with culcha.

How was the taco OP? Pretty good? Did they put salsa on it or just the bacon, egg, cheese?

At least you went there instead of stopping at a taco bell. They still made money off of you, lady was just mistaken about thinking you gave a 5. If you feel bad about the whole thing, just go there again and leave a good tip.

All you can do is go back there when they are not busy and sincerely plead your case -- tell them that you are sure that you gave them a 20 because that's all you had in your wallet.

The best procedure for a cashier is probably to announce the value of the bill when the customer hands it over:

"OK that'll be tree-fiddy out of this 20 dollar bill you gave me right?"

Don’t do that to me man, I feel bad enough as it is. I did nothing wrong but yet that couple truly believes that I just stole from them right now

If you really felt that bad just have them count their money box down. If they don't keep up with it ....then, oh well. If you really did nothing wrong then put it out of your mind.

ps, don't eat the taco.

You are either a giant pussy for letting this bother you...

Or...

You are desperate for attention today.

I didn’t

But I like another posters suggestion, I’ve got a pretty big crew working for me this week. I’ll probably stop by the taco stand a few days from now and get all my guys breakfast.

What’s tiggerdroppings for if not to discuss random awkward situations that occur in our lives with each other?

At the end of the day, they will balance the register and see that they’re not short. Guilt over.

Buccees in giddings doesn’t have food, unless they have made a recent change

Bastrop would have been too far out of my way even for that badass buccees brisket and scrambled egg taco

People keep posting that, you really think a couple in a food trailer balance out their cash register? Or keep track of how many tacos they sold?

I totally get your guilt- TBH I would likely be in the same boat had it been me.

But these people literally confused a crisp bill with a crumpled old bill and likely don’t use basic cash handling practices... It’s willful negligence.

I wouldn't feel bad for shite. I fricking hate thieves. If it was me, she better give me my money back or there's going to be problems. I'd even warn people not to go to the food truck. What are you, a Canadian?
