You misunderstood. It’s “goo’d on you.”

Like I just fricked you then goo’d on you.

I like it... it’s almost endearing

If it’s something positive or encouraging, I’m not going to nitpick it.

Kind of a European/Australia phrase in my experience.

Enjoy it and pretend to be a man of the world.

I’ve been hearing it for about a year or so.

So far it hasn’t rustled my jimmy.

The goodness is on top of you, it surrounds you. The goodness isn't for you, goodness doesn't belong to you.

I think this new phrase is superior

I picked it up a decade or so ago from my Mauri buddy, Tonga. The other saying I got from him was “Wot thu fahhhhhhhhhk”

Yeah, I heard that a lot in my Oz years. My brother-in-law often used it, but not so much as a compliment but more of a way to point out mistakes. An example of its typical use is this:

*Man trips on sidewalk*

Wanker who witnessed the fall: "Good on ya, mate!"

Aussies say it. It's fine because it's their normal thing.

Hipsters picked it up in the USA and it's annoying.

I always take “good on you” to be a back-handed compliment. Like, you fricked up, but you did something that kept it from being a total disaster.
