Short version:

Dad is 64. Ran mouth about him being old and can't hit the ball far anymore. Dad said I will still smoke you in golf. Bet was made. In my younger years, my dad would let bet go, but in my 30s my dad collects. I paid dad, $1500. Wife is super pissed. I'm in a tent in the back yard currently for the night.

Anyone else have a good golf story from today?

Long version:

So i walked off the golf course today and paid my dad $1500 after a round at LSU. $50/hole, birdies $50, a few closest to the holes for $100 on par 3s. Dad even begged me not to make this bet but I'm hardheaded and said he was just scared of finally losing to me. I have never once beaten my dad in golf to this day.

Back story. My dad played for LSU back in the day and has the most incredibly sick short game. Can get up and down from literally anywhere and on any course. From about 180 and in, dad will eat you alive. He can't hit the ball real far anymore cause he can't turn as well now. He hits it about 230 now days but it's always straight down the gut.

So anyway, we got into a pissing match earlier this week and golf came up. As to be expected between us, a wager will ensue and we take it to the links. We have done $10/holes most times and even got squirrelly and went $20/hole a couple times. This time though, I ran my mouth just a little too much.

Dad said, ok big guy, let's make this one interesting. Sets the dollar amounts to everything. He then says if you are scared of losing badly, I understand. Well that pissed me off and I said you got it. He said remember one thing youngster, don't walk on that course without having the money to cover the bet, I know I taught you that.

My dad proceeds to to beat me 14-4. Won all the closest to the holes on the par 3s, and shot several birdies.

My dad wasnt letting this slide and told me to be a man pay up.

Never motivate your dad to beat your arse in something. I think they live for their sons to call them out and teach them a lesson

I bet your dad feels good and bad tonight.

Good for beating a shite talking son, but bad for raising a son that would bet that kind of money against someone he has never beaten.

You sound like an idiot. And I'm sure you're lying. But either way, your dad hates you.

Unless there were 5 par 3s he won and he had 10 birdies while you had zero I don't see how your story adds up

Everyone makes poor choices at times... You made a very moronic choice today... The best thing you can do now is learn from said choice.

ETA: the math isn't really adding up... I guess it's more OT baller to say you lost $1500 instead of $250.

1. You are terrible at telling a story.

2. You aren't very smart to bet a man that played NCAA golf and that you have never beaten in you life.

3. Your wife probably fricked Jody while you were out pissing away money.

Another life lesson...

All old guys who play all the time are this, they don't need to play in college;

the most incredibly sick short game.

Tell him if he wants to collect, he has to fight you in the parking lot.

No way I'm giving that old man one red cent. He's gonna have to fight for it too.

frick him.

Yeah, my dad played college golf. I'm much longer than him now but not a chance in hell I'd bet against him for anything more than lunch or a few beers

His short game is insane.
