Going to Office Christmas Parties

What is the consensus opinion of your co-workers that choose not to attend these functions?
I can be a bit anti-social, admittedly, but I've only been with my company since July so I feel obligated to go tonight.
I have to go right?

I go to the party for our office, I do not go to the company party.
Although we already had plans this year so we’ll be missing both.

I hate going. I usually socialize with the same people from work that I already socialize with. Except we are all wearing ugly Christmas sweaters.

free beer, free booze, free food. drunk co worker chics you might never otherwise have a chance at. i can't see the down side to this.

I'd drop in and make an appearance at least. You can always leave early, but maybe you'll end up having a good time and stay a little while.

If you're too afraid to hang out with your coworkers with free beer and food why even work with them in the first place?

Depending on the company some of those can actually be really fun.
Some of the accounting firms in ATL have ragers where people are doing lines in the bathroom and all kinds of crazy shite.

Sure.
But sometimes your wife goes off for 2 hours with a male coworker leaving you and your children to fend for yourselves at the party and then acts like it's no big deal.

Enjoy your jelly of the month club.

Depends on who you work with.
I rarely go unless there’s free shite. I don’t enjoy my coworkers, but I do enjoy free food and booze.

I go to watch the girls get drunk. Odd things usually happen. Good times.

Office parties are not the same after you get married. Not at all.

Y'all don't know how to put dip on a cracker while she's getting her TPS reports approved in a closet? Sheesh.

Ours is mandatory. With that said, it's going on right now and I'm not there.

Hooking up with a female coworker after the company Christmas party is one of the great joys of life
