These astronauts seem very happy talking with him. They thought it was just going to be Isaacman and it ended up being 99% POTUS.
I guess they're doing another media event in moments.

Apollo and the Manhattan Project were some impressive examples of what you can do with infinite manpower and money.
The pyramids are ancient examples, but Manhattan and Apollo are the two wonders of the modern world.
Its great to see NASA doing NASA things again, even if it is being done 2026 US government procurement style.

I'm still watching the feed. They're uploading the "science photos]" now. They said in their excitement they sometimes forgot to switch memory cards when they switched who had the camera. So "everything is there" but they're all intermingled. (CAPCOM was always reminding them to switch the cards when they called for a switch.) So they may have sounded like no BS military men/woman but obviously they were geeking out during that whole event.
I believe they're about to go into their offline medical and capsule status meetings then their wind down so this seems to be it for the night. I can't wait to see the photos tomorrow!
ETA: I completely forgot about their "off duty" day tomorrow. I'd keep an eye on their social media for iPhone pictures. During tonight's Isaacman led Q&A, it was confirned that they were given the Pro Maxs for this mission. (The ads in a couple months should be fun!)

Problem is we stole far better rocket scientists from the Germans than they. So our rockets were far smaller and more efficient. Great for nuke delivery. Not so much for the space program.
First rocket my grandpa worked on was the pgm-17 thor. Absolute dogshit as a nuke. A few small revisions later and it's delivering rovers to mars, as the delta ii.

quote:It is one of the true perks of living in Central Florida. I watched Columbia go up on it's ill fated mission from my office in Heathrow. Still remember the Saturday morning when the sonic booms didn't happen. I was on a beach in Cocoa for the resumption of the shuttle program and then saw a few future launches from our patio. Hell, even watching a Falcon9 go up from Daytona Beach was fun.
I have a good friend who just sold his house in titusville. Hes seen some awesome launches in his day
I think GenX space followers will always have their arse puckered when SRBs are involved and during any re-entry regardless if it's from the ISS or the moon. Our parents had JFK in Dallas/Apollo. We have 9/11 and Challenger/Columbia. I hope I live long enough to see what my (future) grandkids see in their formative years.

In reply to your post and the two just above it:
- Many of the German scientists, and perhaps most importantly, von Braun, preferred to surrender to us than to the Russians. In fact, his brother brokered his surrender and we were all too happy to accept it.
- Wernher was a brilliant visionary. At 25, he was named technical director of Germany's rocket program. We were fortunate to get him. I'm not sure his equal is alive today.
- The Apollo workforce was almost entirely American, white, and male. By contrast, there is a huge emphasis on international cooperation and until now, an emphasis on DEI in NASA. Hence, all the women NASA has chosen to foreground. Not a positive and working across international interfaces slows things down. Try it sometime.
- Issacman is a breath of fresh air for NASA. We need him.

I love stuff like this, but I'm actually more impressed by the Voyager probes traversing through interstellar space while still communicating with Earth. Voyager I hit one light-day away from Earth recently.

Just a beautiful picture. Hard to put into words. God’s creation is beautiful and I’m so excited to see us go back to the Moon.
