Unfortunately, the damage you have is the result of a long term leak over a period of time, most homeowner's policies exclude this damage. Long term is typically defined as longer than 2 weeks and the fact that you were not aware of the leak does not play a factor in the decision to cover the damage.
disclaimer: I have inspected 5 homes today for insurance claims.

Tell them to pay for it since they insured it when you moved in.....and tell them the next call they'll get is from your attorney.

Yea. I got that.
They’re also not legally obligated to be complete Aholes either.

Did insurance cover the demo? You shouldn’t have touched shite until insurance looked at it.
We went through this exact thing this summer. We had multiple people try to diagnose and the consensus was that you could not diagnose it without demoing the shower.
At that point State Farm just covered the whole claim since we kept saying it was a sudden issue that just popped up one day and the cause was ambiguous without tearing it all out.

I forget, are you a staff adjuster or independent, PA etc...?
We picked up a new insurance company who writes policy in Mississippi and Louisiana for processing contents

We are USAA members for life!
Too bad USAA doesn't treat all service members like that. After Hurricane Rita they treated a certain LtCmdr and her USMC husband quite bad....my parents. The agent made them feel like they brought the flood waters into the shop and they caused the roof to be blown off. And yes...my mother and father always have had insurance with USAA since 1990. And yes, they had/have flood insurance as well. GEICO was the insurance company before them..and they totally sucked...USAA is a bit better...but only sometimes.

When did you buy the house? What did your pre-sale inspection say? What do your property disclosures say?
I hope you are within a year of the sale. That being said, your sale documents still likely contain a waiver of redhibition. Better call a lawya.

I have Shelter Insurance and they are about the same, they pay out pretty well on claims, they don't dick you around and try to nickel and dime you at all. Of course they are fairly expensive for home insurance, but you get what you pay for.

A home inspector cannot see through walls or underneath tile and will have a disclaimer stating such.

I hope you don’t have one of their market value policies. I feel bad when I see these come through. They are changing payouts. Their rpl/acv policies are normal, although they have some weird special item limits. Shelter adjusters that I talk to are not very knowledgeable either which helps insureds

Nothing a gas can and a box of matches can't fix

I have USAA and a tornado took out our house in 14'. It happened on a Sunday night and I was paid in full by that Friday (goes for my vehicles as well). They have always went above and beyond in my personal experiences.

Nope, policy also doesn’t cover defects or poor workmanship. Poor workmanship is what caused your leak.

It really is hilarious the shite people spew out that they 100% believe.

The home we live in has more coverage than the market value of the house, our rental houses are simply insured to market value.
Frankly I'm at the point where I wish the two that are in town would just burn down and I could collect the market value lol
