So speaking to my plumber he doesn’t agree with the improper installation. Basically says that an improper installation on that type of pan would lead to an immediate leak. If this is discovered after 8 years there must be some sort of pan failure.

They still won’t cover the repairs to the plumbing fixture. Whether its settlement, improper installation, wear and tear. It would have to be fire or lightning for them to cover the fixture.

Well the fixture isn’t the chunk of the cost it’s the demo of the shower for access to make the repairs

Just from personal experience I would think they would, but I guess it depends on your policy maybe?
Several years ago the toilet in the "extra bathroom" overflowed. I got home and there was water in the hallway and it was coming from under the door of the bedroom that bathroom is in. The flooring in two rooms and the hallway had to be replaced and home insurance covered it, but insurance companies come up with all kind of bullshite.
Read your policy and find any argument possible.

Did the prior homeowner have a contractor put it in or did he do it himself?

Get lawyer it’s a covered claim

A lawyer will do nothing but cost money and do nothing to progress claim. Only thing at this point is a good contractor with experience with insureds company.

That's total bullshite. They insured the home as you bought it.
No, they didn't. They insured the home per the the provisions of the policy. It does not cover everything. You may try actually reading it sometime.

It blows my mind how little people know or care about their insurance products until they need to use it. They don’t want to hear anything from their agent or their direct company until they want to bitch because it’s not covered. I suspect most on this board have state minimum coverage on their autos and think they are “fully covered”.

Most Agents don’t even know policies.

75% of coverage issues I deal with are agent related. Agents normally just quote the cheapest policy they can. They don’t go over special limits or anything like.
Agenting 101 with a customer should go over every single limitation, theft loss or not, with insured.

“Full coverage” makes me cringe every time I hear it

Nope, most of the companies we deal with are exclusive lines for agents, not all but most. And my experiences are nationwide with a multitude of carriers. Although I understand where it comes from but usually the bad side of my job is related to agents not providing or explaining the appropriate coverage for insured. The agents are playing the quote game so they have a limited deck to work with and they don’t always make additional money on extended or appropriate coverages, but at least hit them up on the renewals.

More like the customers, because they see nothing other than price. What’s the cheapest shite insurance I can buy

Yeah but the agents play along with it. Like I said, I understand where it comes from, but majority of coverage issues I deal with besides overall limits are agent related. Again , after first year give a call and go over any limit not just deductible and overall limits.
