Most homeowner's insurance does not cover long term water damage.
Example:. Your water heater bursts, and sends water through your cieling. Covered.
Example:. Your water heater, unbeknownst to you, has been slowly dripping water into your walls. It's now moldy and rotten. NOT covered.
All of these things are spelled out in your policy documents.

I had a similar denial a few years ago and my agent was able to sort it out, I would start there.
Helps when your home, auto, life, toys, and business is with the same source though, a simple homeowners policy gives you almost zero leverage FYI.

So sometimes access and putback can be covered, it just depends on the policy.

It’s the ensuing loss exclusion etc

But only for a covered loss, that argument won't fly on long-term damage

So update they are covering about a 1/3 of my cost. Plumbers explained that it was a pan failure so they will pay the floor damage and what needs to be done to remove the pan and repair the floor tile based on ensuing loss. I need a whole new shower but they will only cover the tile on the floor. Guess I’m relieved something is covered.

lucky, that's considered flooding, unless you have flood insurance, it's covering most of the cost, sounds like

Outgoing agent told my commercial client that he did indeed have million $ limits on his auto policy. Outgoing agent said you just had to add up the limits on the policy to get there; 300/500/100 + uninsured motorist. I chit you not, only believed it because I heard it during their phone call. Same client, competitive situation, agent told him he didn’t need umbi because they had high comp limits. 7-8 trucks used for business and personal by managers.
