Rettungsgasse

Drivers are supposed to do it as soon as traffic comes to a halt for any or unknown reason, just in case. I believe they did start enforcing this rule quite heavily after a person could have been saved but the ambulance couldn't get through traffic in time. I've only experienced the Rettungsgasse once while driving there, but everybody did their part. no assholes going through the empty space

The Germans are also masters of the zipper merge. Amazing how.much it helps traffic flow when everyone cooperates instead of competing. Rather than almost everyone pre merging early, they wait until near the lane closure. Thus, you get the bare minimum distance of reduced lanes and congestion instead of essentially creating a single lane much earlier than necessary plus less orderly flow as people block out or try to "skip" ahead.

I was in a stau about 2 weeks ago. A semi flipped on the side of the road. I have seen a few bad ones where when you pass as they cleaning up you think to yourself no way in hell someone walked away from that. That is the downside to high rates of speed and that is why they are so strict. Vehicle inspections, heavy fines and driving suspension for riding the left lane, and following the rules of the road in general especially on the autobahn. I get fricking road rage when I go home ,because idiots drive on the interstate. Some old white guy in an F150 with Texas plates will be in the left lane sitting there doing 5 under and then you have Quanshika trying to drive 100 mph in her janky arse Altima weaving around traffic passing on both sides while on the phone.

Another good thing to know is you will be fined if you run out of fuel while on the Autobahn.

There's construction ongoing on my stretch of the A2 so I'm in rettungsgasse often. I'm always worried I'll pick up a flat while pulled over.

The left lane is reserved so migrant rapists can get to their rape destinations quicker.

People don't hang out in the left lane when the next car coming up behind them might be doing 140mph.

Germans take driving seriously and follow the laws. It’s also more difficult to get a license there.

Here … none of that applies.

In Europe if someone flashes their lights it means move over I am coming through.

Folks in the Middle East try this as well.

In America we should be allowed to pit maneuver left lane riders.

Trust me, they saw you. Most of the Autobahn patrols are unmarked.

It's also more expensive for a license and the process is more extensive.
not just Germany. Even in a 3rd world country like Brazil it's much harder and more expensive to get a license.
