He used to have hosts that would fill in for him from time to time when he(Art Bell) was still hosting the show. I knew back then that I was out as soon as Art retired.

He was one of a kind.

Noory is garbage but this thread is really random even for you because we’ve discussed this all the time.

I’ve driven west quite a few times. I would always time my drives particularly for space between San Antonio and El Paso to be during C2C. WWL was clear as a bell (pardon the pun) all the way to AZ once you got past San Antonio.

Back in the 90's, when I was working my way through school on the midnight shift, I worked in a parking lot and had to do inventory at night. You had to manually write the tags down back then. I'd put on my walkman and listen to C2C with the full moon, and man, that made for some strange nights, lemme tell ya. Especially when the topic would be aliens and you'd look up at the stars at 3 AM and go "Ooooo K.....".

I do indeed miss Art Bell.

Now the callers are not only aggressively vetted and filtered, but given the number of 'repeat' callers, many suspect that only a couple of "legit" calls are allowed a night, and most of the callers are fakes calling in from the studio.

I was thinking about this. So many of Noory's regular callers will ask him if he's heard of So and So and his theory of magnetic resonance, or whatever. And it's always about somebody who was just on the show, and then they'll talk about how wonderful the guy's book is. I thought it was funny that George's callers are so spaced out that they don't remember where they heard of the guy. But you're right, they're probably plant calls to pump up the commissions or referral fees Noory gets for book sales and bookings.

Art was entertaining and could wink at his audience through his voice. I dont know a single long time C2C listener that enjoys George's show.

One of my favorite episodes was when Art would have the Antichrist hotline.

I liked his Y2k episodes, Ghost to Coast, and the episode where Ed Dames made a remote viewing prediction about the jet stream coming down to ground level, wiping out all of the crops, and how all of the survivors would be living under ground.

Pretty sure that was supposed to happen before 2010.

AMEN.

Art Bell C2C was always on in the background during my late night study sessions or when I was up gaming.

Can’t rightly explain it, but it really helped center me; did wonders for my ADD.

This thread is still 10x better than most of the garbage threads on the OT lately.

Absolutely. When I worked 11 p.m. - 7 a.m. back in the 90s, Art’s voice is what kept me awake and alert from midnight to 4:00. I always hated hearing Noory’s voice say, “Sitting in for Art Bell this evening…” , because I knew we were in for a boring fricking four hours. frick George Noory and his goofy black-dyed hair and mustache. What an a-hole.

True story. Last night in bed something happened that spiked my anxiety/cortisol. I have this ambient noise podcast that I listen to (with this bluetooth eye mask that has headphones over the ears) sometimes to help me get to sleep. The random episode I picked last night included clips of the infamous "Area 51" phone call. Not the most settling "ambiet noise" to listen to.

Yep, same but probably not WWL always (though sometimes). Haven't listened in a while. Noory just isn't Bell.

My recollection is that Art came across as interested but not necessarily a believer or a skeptic. George comes across as one or the other most times. But my memory seems often flawed nowadays. I blame the abduction

Perfect description of Art.

One of his spookiest was when he had a recording from the bottom of the world's deepest mine in Russia. You could hear the howls of the tormented souls in Hell.

I now listen to John B Wells who was a recent guest host until they kicked him off the show for discussing topics that didn't please Noory.

His voice is similar to Art's and his show while not as kooky, is pretty strange in its right.

Where’s the best place to find recordings of the old Art Bell C2C shows? I’d like to listen to them when I’m driving. Stuff like that intrigues me, but I am not a fan of Noory.
