George Noory ruined Coast to Coast AM

Art Bell was a legend. He was a gracious host who knew how to handle his guests. Coast to Coast AM always attracts a lot of super-crazies, but Art Bell always put on the persona where you knew he didn't believe it, but would lead them on to make for an entertaining show. C2C was full of interesting 'fun' X-files esque shows about Bigfoot, aliens, cryptids, mind control experiments, etc. When guests began to really go off the end of crazy, Art would turn into the skeptic to begin pushing back against them. You never had to believe any of this shite to enjoy listening.
Under George Noory (Snorey), the show is a complete joke. Noory is a dumb a-hole who actually sounds like he believes literally everything on his show. When guests begin peddling pure bullshite he never calls them out on it, even when you can tell they're just out to deceive people.
Worse, the format of the show was massively cut. Bell would run the entire broadcast, Noory has cut it massively and two hours of the show are literally rebroadcast to fill the gap. Additionally, the show is about 33% commercial breaks. The show will cut back from several minutes of commercials just to play a recorded 'call now!' voice, and then go back to another several minutes of commercials. Even when the show is running, Noory has to stop the show to tell you to sign up for Coast Insider, Paranormal Date, or hock vitamins or Carnivora.
Additionally, Art would routinely run open lines... any caller, any topic, go nuts (literally). Now the callers are not only aggressively vetted and filtered, but given the number of 'repeat' callers, many suspect that only a couple of "legit" calls are allowed a night, and most of the callers are fakes calling in from the studio.
Finally, the content is now literally just a cavalcade of obvious frauds who are just there to hock books and supplements at gullible idiots. Many of them, you can tell, are completely insincere and are just making shite up to sell stuff, and Noory lets it slide every time. Every now and then whole chunks of the show are dedicated to 'alternative medicine' where some "pharmacist" (note: pharmacists don't know shite. That isn't an authoritative profession for advice on healthcare) tells everyone to eat vitamins to cure everything.
I think the worst are the shows with the psychics where some hack fraud begins giving listeners false hope over the phone and shitty advice. I think the most depraved one was some guy who you could tell really loved his cat and had to put him to sleep, and this 'animal medium' talked to his dead cat and began telling him a bunch of bullshite. It was pathetic and predatory.

Art Bell was a legend and is sorely missed. There was something pretty great about listening to WWL on a long arse road trip, driving west, and listening to crazy arse shite. Art was quite the orchestrator.

Someone should toss Noory in Mel’s hole.

I was traveling sales for my dad for years… C2C on late night drives between cities was awesome.

Noory's turned it into a personal enterprise beyond Art's wildest dreams. The show is just an infomercial now for whatever huckster or scam artist George is shilling for at the moment.
I almost started a thread one night about all the scam artists he's been associated with, and never mentioned again once they got exposed. Or the business relationships he's never disclosed.
Several of his recurring topics and guests are all tied to Robert Bigelow, and I have no doubt Noory was getting money to push his agenda.

Amen!!
I've been listening to the Dreamland station on the TuneIn radio app that plays old Art Bell shows ... The 9/11 show is on right now.

Art loved the Filipina ladies.

If he’s lost pioneerbasketball he’s lost the country.
I agree though. I stopped listening several years ago. Used to live it. I started listening to Clyde Lewis and he’s pretty good usually.

I hope you aren’t talking about the numbers lady.
The final straw for me was that heart guy he always has on who just comes on to sell his heart vitamins or whatever he has. Boring and sleezy at the same time.

I personally love watching Ancient Aliens but it's easy to tell how full of shite it is. I went to Alien Con in Dallas in 2019, and it was fun but the merchants were like a bunch of carnies and half the speakers were obvious loons. I bet my cousin that somewhere there would be someone selling crystals. There were three booths of crystal sellers. It was creepy how many attendees were true believers, though.
Art Bell was one of the best radio men in history. For me, that was his appeal, and I agree with the poster that driving long distances at night while listening to his show was incredible. The show was pure because he regulated it with his personality and what he chose to focus on. Noory plays along with everyone, shamelessly feigning belief in everything he encounters, and he's not even good at that. It's a joke.
