Price rises in new construction should translate to higher prices in existing homes, right?

I'm a construction manager- this needed to happen. A lot of these bigger guys got huge on the backs of slave labor wages.

We have plenty of young men in America that will benefit from this.

Instead of paying $17/hr for Jose to cut snd place rebar we need to pay $21/hr for Robbie or Darius to do it.

Short term pain = long term success

You are outright lying that trump campaigned in 2024 on only deporting violent illegals.

He is full of it. It’s exactly what we voted for. Trump said that’s what initial focus of the large scale roundups but was never the only focus, and judges shut down using the enemies Act for gang members and are taking forever to decide what due process under the law should be. Other judges hide the criminals or block removing overreach protections decreed by Biden’s autopen for others. For all the tyrant and constitutional crisis talk by Dems Trump and his administration have abided the rulings done by activist single district judges’ overreaching their constitutional and legal authority when communicated clearly and before actions already performed and worked thru the slow as Christmas legal appeal process. Waiting for judicial branch to fix itself isn’t going to work long term. Every day another single district judge jumps in and issues nationwide injunctions. Parker made a comment about using appeal process instead of impeachment, so he better start working overtime and gets these out of bounds rulings fixed. He will instead try to balance response as usual and flip back and forth. Republicans still struggle to pick conservative judges who stay conservative while Dems can always pick the ones who will put party first and adapt rulings to current Dem views.

Also:

he was going after gang members and criminals with warrants. Not hard working guys
These are not mutually exclusive.

I feel really sorry for this guy that he can no longer exploit illegal labor.

If you got a new roof in the last 20 years you probably had an illegal on the job.

He didn't say "only". You're re-framing.

Are you denying he said he'd focus on the criminals first? Do you think we're done with them and can move on to the productive class of illegals?

People who employ illegals should be hammered. Truly punitive measures like permanent loss of license, massive fines, etc.

That’s the only way to truly address this issue.

Maybe you should pay your employees and provide insurance instead of exploiting cash labor

i said no such thing. i said that the violent crime being committed by illegals was the scare tactic used to inflame his base. which worked, good for him...he got elected.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I also don't want the market to melt. There is clearly a need for this labor and we don't have adequate supply to replace it in our current paradigm-society.

This is particularly an issue with housing, as we need to flood the market with supply to get prices to crater.

There is only one thing that pisses off people here more than illegals and that's the working poor

The idea of paying people decent wages is essentially on par with being an illegal

So he's built a business by undercutting people who hire legal workers and expects sympathy?

Nah.

Funny side note, the local Mexican place can’t find workers. All of them used to be Hispanic, the owners are Mexican. My son starts tonite washing dishes up there (he’s home for summer from freshman year college). The pay….13/hr
