Dixie was the name of the surveyor that surveyed the Mason Dixon line as well as the name of the currency in the South
I am aware of the etymology.

The black guy early in the comments has it right. He said something along the lines of, “What’s this going to accomplish? We don’t drink this beer. We don’t listen to Dixie Chicks.”
Just an testament to how ridiculously out of hand this has gotten.

That will absolutely kill that brand
People bought it out of an honor to the past.

It's actually not that bad to me. Underrated kind of like Lone Star. Nice, good fishing cold beer. No fuss no muss.
My thoughts as well. If I could only have one brand of beer for the rest of my life Dixie wouldn't be it. But, I liked drinking for nostalgia purposes and because doing so was (now again) was supporting a longtime Louisiana business.
But that's over for me if they change their name. One, it will lose the nostalgia factor. Two, I'm not interested in supporting a business who UNNECESSARILY changes their name simply to virtue signal and appease a bunch of children who are on a never ending search to find any and everything they can portray as "offensive".

Dixie kind of sucks but I would still drink one from time to time if available because of the name
Probably won't do that anymore

Something tells me that Tom wouldn't have changed the name.

It's kind of a pretty shitty cheap beer, and the only reason to drink it is the name. Or at least it used to be. I haven't drank it in a long time.
I had a couple at Saints game and was unimpressed. This was after I had been drinking pregame and usually after the first 3 or 4 beers I don't care what I am drinking but even still I was unimpressed.

It was mediocre beer with a brand history. Now it is just mediocre beer.
nailed it

This is dumb. With everyone else bailing, it's a chance to own the real meaning of Dixie (New Orleans, land of the Dixies or $10 banknotes).
