Just a part of adulthood. Accept it and move on. Not worthy of advice.

You do not have to be overly dramatic about it, these things happen.

I have been laid off before, it led to better things.

I registered for unemployment and started looking for a new job. Got one about a month later.

The economy is booming, but even my current company has been having some lay offs. All the people I know over the past year have found jobs within a couple of months.

Tell her to update her resume and upload it to Indeed. Search for jobs a few times a week. Don't do it everyday, you'll go crazy. Trust me, been there, done that.

If she knows any other companies or managers that are in her job field, she should call or message them. That's why you always keep business cards.

If your friend has saved money and they can spare a bit, go on a vacation. I'm not talking about flying across the world or anything, but a nice 3 or 4 day vacation to get your mind off things. Once she gets back, then she can really start job hunting.

Did she used to work in downtown Houston? May know who you're talking about.

Or it could be one of the other recently laid off humans on earth.

Take her out for drinks and be a really good listener.

Then make your move.

After I got laid off, I spent the summer in Colorado as a raft guide. It was a great experience. Spent all summer on the river. Smoked weed, drank beer, and screwed women. One of the best summers of my life.

Tell her it happens in life. She'll move onto bigger and better things.

You still have a job. Your new job title is Job Seeker

Get up in the morning, dress as you normally do for work, Keep your routine, if you go to health club first then keep doing it.

Your office is now your home or library or Starbucks. But you will now spend 8 hours every day looking for a new job.

Everyone I have given this advice to and they have taken it find jobs quickly. Finding a job is work. Treat it that way, seriously, with initiative and commitment and you will be working again soon.
