Yep. Good people advance, crappy ones whine. Pay your dues, learn the industry.

I always wonder if people who went into the job market between the 80s-90s really understand the difference between what they used to have to pay for and what they do now.
Well, in the early 80s we has 20% interest rates.

Rates are finally starting to creep back up after being artificially held down for a decade. I think some younger people are going to be surprised when a decent mortgage or auto loan is 6-8%. I don't remember the 15-20% rates btw

Imo you get what you pay for. If you are offering above market rate for entry level position, you'll have your pick of the above average applicants. If you are offering shite pay as a "foot in the door/earn your stripes" type of deal then you'll probably end up with shitty employees and the non-shitty ones will be planning their exit as soon as they can.
I'd rather great employees who will generate way more value than they cost, even if they have higher than average wages.
Shitty employees and high turnover can cost wayyyyyy more than the savings from underpaying staff.

And your savings account was earning actual interest and you could get a 12% CD

They were that high, as were other types of loans, back then almost anything that cost interest was tax deductible too

Yep.
One reason prices have crept up is cheap credit. They're going to be shocked when rates normalize.
Lower Prices on housing and cars don't matter if you're paying high interest rates.

The response I received is that I would not settle for less than $70K base salary.
For entry level inside sales?
I get that each industry is different but those are unreal expectations with years of experience

you’re incredibly arrogant
commission %?

My company is starting out Inside Sales positions at between 30-40k depending on experience. Plus there is a bonus program that has a top end of around 12k but usually puts out around 7k paid per quarter. This is Industrial Supply field.
That’s standard for our area from what I’ve been told by talking to different people

The kind of applicant ballsy enough to demand that might just be the kind of person actually worth that.
I'm thinking the opposite. This person can't even sell themselves for the job.

It's like people don't realize if you get a real degree with you can a job paying more than 50k straight out of college.
I had a job lined up a year before I graduated that I made 20k in a summer at
