Lol, you are talking about 10s of thousands difference on someone with no experience.
Not saying they can't be good, but come on.

Good luck working for more than minimum wage without a smart phone and wifi. That is such a tired and bullshite argument.

Eh, I'd say WiFi and a cheap cell phone are pretty close to necessities.
And health insurance and education are far, far more expensive inflation-adjusted than they were 30 years ago.

It isn’t, it’s chicken feed, but you need to be able to bring something to the table to have negotiating leverage

About 350 dollars a week

Yeah plant baws got mad at me too when I posted the truth about what my company pays.
It’s $50k not $250k.

The response I received is that I would not settle for less than $70K base salary.
For entry level inside sales?
I get that each industry is different but those are unreal expectations with years of experience
Will......part time experience. Wants 70... El Oh fricking El

Cell phone, I’ll agree, but it doesn’t have to be the latest and greatest, WiFi? meh, go to Starbucks, everything that’s cool and convenient isn’t a necessity, got to learn to adapt, make things fit

Sometimes I think I should be making a lot more and then I remember these threads

Well cell phone or WiFi are absolutely necessary. You don’t “have” have either but if you are in sales you have to have at least one.
shite include a home security system in there too. Pest control as well.

You email an employee something time sensitive at night, on a weekend, holiday, etc and you're relying on them to pop in to a Starbucks to see it and respond?
Way to set yourself up for failure.

Our company is paying $75k while being trained (over 6k/mo).
After training is complete (3 to 4 months), pay is $35k plus commission/bonus.
Employer paid pension (cash account), matching 401k, health insurance paid 75%.
We probably interview 150 people for 1 hire. We have corporate recruiters screen out the resume's and perform a personality test to identify those who get the interview. Who knows how many they see.
We have hired fresh out of college in the past. But those kids are getting eat up by the rest of the market right now.

And what if you don't have a Starbucks nearby? Or have a car to get to one? Or don't want to spend $4 per day to get access (which would end up being more than internet anyway)?
Not to mention the economic time cost of going to and from Starbucks every time you need to send an e-mail.
Besides all that, non-tradeable goods (healthcare, education, housing/rent) are far, far more expensive in real terms now than they were 30 years ago, and those three take an absolutely massive chunk of the average college grad's compensation every single month. That is where the majority of these kids' checks are going to, anyway. Even in real terms, 35K today doesn't get you what it did 30 years ago.

Sounds incredibly inefficient and time consuming.
