$0.00 - $20,000

You're looking at a mountain of resumes with experience. A green "salesman" may as well get their insurance license.

The position that I am offering is more than that, but considerably less than $70K.

In BR, I'd say $17/hr starting. Which is low, but then a $1 bump after a 6 month probationary period.

Did this person not understand how sales work? You don’t just sit back and do minimal work and get $70k. The money is there, but you have to work for it.

I agree. And unfortunately this person did not communicate or present themselves very well.

I don't fault them. They're young. They're green. Learning comes with time, patience and experiences.

I was floored when I asked about their salary expectations. The response I received is that I would not settle for less than $70K base salary. In Baton Rouge. I hope this person finds what they're looking for, because I am not able to offer it to them. Crawl before you walk people.

Yeah, they won’t find that.

Look, I know the real money is always in the base salary. Why? Because it is guaranteed. But it took me many years to be able to get to a point in my career to understand, expect and demand it. This person does not.

And therein lies the issue. That dirty word. Work.

$50k is about average for my company straight out of college. You can make as much as you want though if you’re good. Performance based income is uncapped.
