They're the worst damn "sea"food there is. They yield like shite, they cost an assload, and they taste the least delicious.
My pawpaw would climb out the grave and slap the shite outta me if I paid what the going rate is to eat those things. More per pound than ribeyes.

The excuse that the farmers needed to keep prices sky high until they magically drop the day after Easter.

You’re talking about crawfish right?

Well, last year due to the drought, most crawfish farmers received big bucks, heard some receiving $700,000 and more. Imagine that, farming is protected from the vagaries of weather.

I've had them done every way by every expert there is from Rayne to Chalmette and everywhere in between.
Its a shitty crustacean boiled in peppered salt water that yields horribly. They'd be alright if they weren't expensive af.

Well it;s one thing to hate the price and another to hate the taste

1990s freeze was not worst, Southwest Louisiana had the coldest temperatures ever at 7 degrees but thankfully it didn’t last long. Heck in 21 we didn’t get above freezing for 4 days and it recovered within 2 weeks. This cold duration event was probably 2 days. All in all it should be back normal well in time for Lent as long as we don’t get another cold blast.

Drops after Easter? Almost like supply and demand huh? Demand goes down after Easter, supply is high which costs price to go down. Some of yall really show uneducated yall are.

Prices never go down. I told myself that i was going to catch my own this year. Figured that was my way of getting around these farmers, then you add up the beer required to go to the camp and work the traps….i still lose!
Farmers have to drink beer too…why do you think they are so expensive?

Thoughts on this freeze and how it will affect crawfish season??
Don't worry. There was already going to be some excuse. This one just shot to the top of the list.

Just another damn excuse.
I love them but a local restaurant last weekend had them for $11/lb. They were tiny but whole families were lined up for them.
The farmers will starve if they’re waiting on me to pay that.
