A lot of people sure hate one another in these threads

People come here to see what the TD members who are weather professionals have to say.

They rightfully get irked when those without knowledge start babbling.

ETA: We are all grateful for the time these pros spend in here. For many of us, this is our "go to" for severe weather. Where else can you ask "Hey, I live (here), is this tornadic storm an issue for me?" and get an answer.

I’m assuming that as soon as they find a center, the modeling gets much more accurate, right?

It certainly helps.

What sort of impact is expected for NOLA as we currently stand?

I just come here to shitpost between rds or Duke posts. There's nothing worth reading outside of that. Boat kind of splits the difference between shitposting and meteorology so that's helpful too

Just went outside for my commute to work (walking next door to my guest house/office) and it is so damn nice out today. Crazy to think in about 50'ish hours its going to be really shitty for the LA coast and especially wherever this thing is heading.

Terrebonne parish damn sure doesn’t need the rain they are saturated with storm water from last week still trying to drain. They will close locks to the south and the heavy rainfall will have nowhere to go. Also Ida pushed water out and all flooding was north of the locks a Morgan city landfall is about a worst case for that area.

Maybe they shouldn’t close the locks. Stupid arse levee system. FYI there is a hearing scheduled today in district court to certify a class of residents below the levee. Instead of a 2’ surge, cocodrie and Dulac are gonna have a 5-6’ surge.

What's really sad, I'm not worried about the hurricane as much as I'm worried about insurance companies bumping up rates more
I understand your frustration with insurance, but when an area is routinely blasted by damaging storms what do you want them to do? The risk in LA is inescapable. We pay for that risk.

Gusty and rainy but nothing too worrisome - for now. Definitely worth monitoring though.

It's been getting hit by storms forever. The last 15 years have been a moonshot in rates.

Very dependent on final location but they’ll be getting alot of S winds for a couple days so water is coming up nonetheless.

More development, more crap gets destroyed. Higher costs to replace.
