Never underestimate the amount of people who want to be able to say their photos or social media posts were on TV or a TV station's social media channels. The world in which we live today.
Friendly reminder that if you get something really cool or unusual on video, don't say "yes" to their request for use permission. Sell that shite and make some money, they reserve the right to sell it to anyone they want......in perpetuity.

But sitting on my patio right now has me thinking…. Can you imagine living back in the day, when there was no technology like there is now, and being completely blindsided by a serious hurricane?? That would be awful
My great grandfather survived the Chenier Caminada storm in the 1890s because he was out in his boat and didn't realize what was coming. His wife and children all died and he moved to New Orleans to start over. Lots of stories like that from back in the day.

A pic of our family camp keeps showing up on WAFB. Have no idea how they got it.

Yeah she's giving it one last go but the environment is so harsh.
I find this more interesting meteorologically than a steady-state major on a beeline.

Fox 8 was the best in NOLA when I left a couple years ago.
Surprised to see them dick-riding one model, especially at this point when the path is "follow the direction its currently going to land"
It's a microcosm of what's become of all mainstream media. The general public via raw data and the internet is more accurate, more timely, and much more agile to changing conditions/information.
As such, the only thing the media has is sensationalism.
Look at what sports media has become over time. It used to be Sportscenter based and slowly became hot take based.
Look at what the news media has become. It used to be news based and is now politically slanted based.
Weather is no different.
Most people have figured it out without thinking about it. They come to social media sources first. Unfortunately, there are still a bunch of people that tune in to their local weather man who is fed data and a narrative from someone above him with different objectives (they are begging you to watch). They don't mind being wrong.

We’ll see in about 7 hours. If the NHC wins out which i think they will. Fox 8 needs to be called out for this unprofessional BS

Just as there will be no one to call the jackasses out here on this board when Fox 8 is proven to be right.

Wednesday update on Hurricane #Francine, nearing landfall in #Louisiana, with impacts expected both there and in #Mississippi and #Alabama. I hope everyone is prepared and stays safe today and tonight.
There are also other systems in the Atlantic to keep an eye on as we continue through the peak of the hurricane season.

I think that is a forecast model reading, not an actual anemometer reading. I believe the only anemometer in the area is on Gunnison GB668.
You can see the wind data… lags a bit just like the buoy’s, spars, platforms. Then you can look at a graph of the wind data. It’s only good for wind though. Wave heights and pressure aren’t shown. Below all that is the forecast numbers based off the models.
I find it easier than the NDBC site. And most of their shite doesn’t work anyhow… red squares. Just seems easier for me.
