Man, this was the 6Z GFS from August 31, 8 days ago. It starts 200 hours out and ends at hour 336 but this could fool you into thinking it's the current 6Z GFS. Even the timing is almost the same.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

Western Gulf of Mexico (AL91):
Showers and thunderstorms have increased this morning in association
with a broad area of low pressure located over the southwestern Gulf
of Mexico. This system is forecast to drift slowly northwestward
during the next couple of days, and environmental conditions are
expected to become conducive for additional development. A tropical
depression is likely to form during the next couple of days as the
system moves generally northwestward and then northward near or
along the Gulf coast of Mexico and Texas through the middle of the
week. Interests along the western and northwestern Gulf Coast should
closely monitor the progress of this system. Watches could be
required for portions of the western Gulf coast later today or
tonight. An Air-Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is also
scheduled to investigate the system later today.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...80 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...90 percent.

Pretty cool to see the low that gave us all the heavr rain dive southwestward and the low off the yucantan slowly moving northwestward
is this where they combine and Shooter McGavin calls it The Perfect Storm?

Atleast it'll be nice today so I can get my grass cut. May need to pull my boat off my lift and put it on the trailer. Couple days of strong east wind is gonna bring the water up a good bit

It will probably go farther East than that. Climatology shows that once they start out going SW to NE, they almost always go farther East than initially forecast. This one especially with the wind shear.

Models seem pretty well honed in on an early Thursday landfall for those showing a LA landfall.

Even the ones that landfall in Texas are in Louisiana by Thursday. Which makes it interesting that all of the rainfall forecasts on the different weather websites/apps have the most rain falling Wednesday.

For those that have some understanding…
My Aunt passed away and they are scheduled to have her visitation Wednesday and funeral Thursday morning SE of Houston. If they hold the service and you were traveling from the Northshore how would you attend? Leave early Wednesday? Late Tuesday? She was special to me so if they have it as scheduled I’ll make every effort to attend just not sure how yet.

I read we might get more rain on Wednesday .. if you want to go and have the time, I’d leave Tuesday.

That said idk shite .. only what I read here but that’s what I would do.

I’m sorry for your loss.
