Don't want to start a new thread, but I'll drop this here for anyone interested. There's a pretty dangerous wildfire not far from Big Bear in SoCal right now. It is blowing up right now, threatening some homes, and causing several evac orders. There is rain within a few miles of this fire, but it is actually hurting instead of helping with the wind. The fire is producing lots of lightning.

She's a good follow for wildfires out that way.

Those wildfires imo are the worst disasters you could face. Just a helpless feeling that only gives you maybe a couple hours notice.

Yeah, and when they're volatile like this one the warning and time to act shrinks. They'll issue evac orders earlier than normal.

The fire has crossed the main road for evac now, and the other options could be compromised. It is a bad spot for the people in the area, particularly Running Springs.

1. Western Gulf of Mexico (AL91):
An area of low pressure located over the Bay of Campeche is
producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This disturbance
is forecast to drift slowly northward during the next several days
while it interacts with a frontal boundary. Environmental conditions
are forecast to become more conducive for development, and a
tropical depression is likely to form while the system moves
generally northward near or along the Gulf coast of Mexico and Texas
through the middle of next week. Interests along the western Gulf of
Mexico coast should closely monitor the progress of this system.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...80 percent

I'm cutting grass tomorrow and checking the oil in the generator. My biggest worry is getting stuck at the plant in a doublewide office.

Looks like the areas of interest in the Atlantic could be a threat as well for the US

Next question .. where can I find expected rainfall totals? Hate to say it again but we just planted a sunflower field for a St. Jude fundraiser. They’re going to drown despite being on rows I afraid.
