Should I be worried about a couple Pine Trees in the neighbors yard?
Pine trees always make me nervous. I'm in Mandeville and have two in my yard; we've decided to go stay at a friends house in the neighborhood tomorrow night to be safe.
Pine trees can snap in winds under 60MPH so yeah, if you've got some within fall distance of your home I would be worried.

Been lurking this thread for days, so might as well post now.
I'm in central Louisiana so never had a major threat. Said threat has decreased since the track has shifted East.
Work closed tomorrow out of caution. Would have had to stay home tomorrow anyway because daycare is closed too (followed the school closures).
We polished off a bottle of wine and my wife (no pics) who still has to work tomorrow has decided to mop the whole house.
Currently on Tito's and crockpot buffalo chicken.
Best of luck to you baws and everyone in the danger zone.

Im with the consensus that this storm is ragged and fighting some shear currently. Its running out of time, imo, to build enough of an inner core to fight the near shore shear off for any period of time.
Small core, things can happen fast, but Im in camp "cautiously optimistic" tonight.

Let me say too....I think the direction of the home in relation to the pine trees should also factor in. Factor in wind direction during the highest wind speeds.
Is your home to the east of those trees? South of those trees or north of them?

You still feel confident with the 4:00 track that Capsrotta showed or do you think it will go farther east?

Duke say Francine becomes a sheared mess and gets back down to a tropical storm, does that change the track or it wouldn’t matter?

Interesting that the airlines did operate all of their late night flights into BTR and MSY this evening due to good weather. Meaning they will operate their first flights of the day tomorrow morning before the storm hits. Most flights cancelled after around 9am from both airports tomorrow and early thursday morning flights are also cancelled as planes cannot get in tomorrow evening.

What's not really discussed by anybody (I've been watching coastal MS news for a bit) is the tornado risk and rain risk for coastal MS/AL.
The news here in coastal MS has been week. Both wlox and wxxv are essentially saying this will be nothing.
I think because of the shear people out here are lax

Yeah, in my very unqualified opinion this storm looks like a mess.
Just a couple hours ago ...
And now in the last 30 minutes, looks like some dry air has reached around and found its way into the eyewall (if you can call it that) again
Hopefully it continues to be a mess

You'll have some tornado risk, but it will likely be limited along wherever the warm front sets up, and is in a narrow corridor. SPC has a Slight Risk with a 5% Tor probability. The news should mention it, but I don't know how much beyond "We will watch any bands or storms......"

We went from arguing over “my hurricane is worse than your hurricane” to arguing over fricking degree credentials. Christ

And would the storm reducing in strength mean less storm surge?
