He’s the meteorologist for GOHSEP now. Sends a daily email with the same maps/images that the national weather service sends. Usually within 15 minutes of each other. Complete redundancy

He’s there so they can ask him direct questions and predictions.

You are not nearly clever, but are amusing.

Grand isle was leveled and Houma looked like a war zone

I did some survey work on Grand Isle immediately after Ida.

everything south of the Golden Meadow floodgate was an absolute wreck.
in the town of grand isle (right side of road before crossing bridge), there were spots where we had to ask locals exactly where the hell we were.
sand was 3 feet deep hiding any roads, and there weren't even pilings left in most lots.

talked to an ole baw that rode Ida out in the motel on right side as soon as you get to the Island. Dude literally said "the roof left about halfway through the night"

Center of Francine is about 60 miles west of NOAA buoy 42002. Winds are picking up but nothing crazy. This shows that - at least for now and what the NHC is forecasting - this hurricane's windfield is small.

Within 25 to 30 miles of center is where the strong winds are. This buoy is unaffected by land friction only 60 miles away and is just above TS force sustained and about 60 mph gusts.

Where the center tracks will make a big difference in which areas get damage versus which areas may only get normal thunderstorm conditions.

Hurricane Hilda from the early 1960s was one nasty October storm that's rarely mentioned. It took down a water tower in Erath and plopped onto a city building, killing several city workers. it tore up our neighborhood in Lafayette worse than any hurricane through the 1990s - Oak Trees down all over the place. A couple of roofs were blown off.
I was in kindergarten and had a blast though....got to play on all of the big trees that were lying in yards.
