major hurricane. The first was Debbie , weeks before Katrina that wasn’t declared a hurricane until after the fact.
1. Zeta was not a major hurricane.
2. It was Cindy, no Debbie.

I'm up just long enough to see what happened with 12Z stuff. Me and the poodle between my legs are going back to bed.

All this for a Cat 1 storm?

Noon GFS run. Basically a direct hit on Northshore/Nola.
A direct hit on Cocodrie, not the fricking Northshore.

I’ll admit I’ve got no clue. This is my first storm to really read and try to absorb the info of some great posters on this board. It’s been very interesting to follow along. I’m fascinated

Zeta was late October 2020 (year before Ida). it was cool after Zeta, so power being out wasn't a big deal.
We were in the hospital for the birth of my daughter during Zeta. When we did get home to no power, it was too cool in the house for the baby, so we had to go stay with some family on the Wank for a couple of days. First— and I’m sure last — time I’ll ever have to leave my house because it’s too cold after a hurricane.

The NHC really needs to work on their tracking systems. To be from Lake Chuck to Just west of NOLA in 48 hours is a huge jump. How did they not be able to pinpoint the center at this point with today's technology?

All what? It's going to be inconvenient for several cities withing 30 miles of its path. Losing power is the worst!

I don't see people in the direct path making as big of a deal as the NOLA/Northshore peeps

you do understand that weather conditions combine to steer the storm, and that these conditions often change, don't you?

It really is fascinating. Weather is scary, but awesome at the same time (I’m not talking about the death and destruction part of it, that’s obviously terrible). But if you’re able to follow along from a distance, Mother Nature is definitely a beast.
As far as the weather guys who post here, we are indeed very fortunate to have them. I haven’t watched a lick of TV hurricane coverage in YEARS yet I’m always more informed about what’s going on weather wise than anyone else in my family.

Well you are objectively wrong, as it was adjusted to a category 3.

You expected them to pinpoint the center of a storm 48 hours ago when the center of that storm didn't exist 48 hours ago?
