I wonder if possible that it just keeps moving East until landfall and we all end up on the Western side.

Yeah, no telling. I know that was a big controversy. I got a storm surge warning.

it'll be interesting to see how madisonville does with the water surge. with the levees in st john changing, word is northshore surge can be much worse than year's past with storms like this coming from our west side.... or really any side.

It is definitelty going to be something to keep an eye on with the river not being able to drain into the lake tomorrow.

What if a kid comes home and can’t make it back Friday because of damage/road conditions? They should have closed until Monday. Power is gonna be an issues like you said for some. Idk.

landfall near Point Chevreuil (south of Franklin) to
Centerville to
just west of Pierre Part to
just west of White Castle to
St. Gabriel to
Baton Rouge (approx. Staring / Essen Lane to Sherwood Forest) to
Central

This is approx. a 25 to 30 mile shift eastward from 6 hours ago.

So looks like the eye is right over BR. Nola will get pounded as will Slidell it looks like

Praying for my BR baws. 85mph winds isn't devastating but is isn't fun either. The good news is that it is supposed to move out of there quickly once it hits land. It won't stall for 3+ hours like Ida did.

I keep 20 gallons in my outdoor shed every year. Fill it up in May, keep 12 months, use in my cars the following May then refill. Has come in handy a couple times the past 5 years

My dad is sort of like this with gasoline. Except some of that gasoline is so old now that I wouldn't put it in my lawn mower, much less a car.

Then just don’t go. One missed class on a Friday after a hurricane won’t hurt you

People need to look at Beryl for some perspective on power outages. Prepare to be without power for several days to a week. If you don't want to deal with that, you have time to leave still. People forget how shitty it is to lose power.

LSU would have to make up those days with Saturday classes.

I would assume most professors cancel class for the day.

So it’s “virtual” days just to avoid the hassle of Saturday makeup days.

Guess it depends on how much it strengthens but with the shifts east constantly I might end up eating the eye.

I’m in Madisonville too. A couple of more of these shifts and we will be in it. Oh, happy day! I hope the storm sucks a bag of dry air.
