That’s kinda what I was thinking. Dude, there is a fricking hurricane making landfall.
I remember an ECON class at LSU having a test scheduled when a hurricane made landfall and was traveling through BR. The professor was new to LA from out of state. It wasn’t a particularly bad hurricane so we only got the expected rain and some winds. LSU did not cancel classes.
Most of the class showed up for the test but the professor was a no-show. She came to the next class and gave the test. She said she couldn’t believe people would actually show up.
Hysterical attitude

Think Barry was 2019? It was July .. we weren’t sure if we’d make our flight for a mission trip to Puerto Rico.
We didn’t even lose electricity for Barry.

Good point. I have PTSD from Ida and Gustav. Grew up in New Iberia and rode out Andrew there. Just downed trees in the yard.
Gustav and Ida in Baton Rouge did more damage to us (personally) than any storms down in New Iberia, so I’m feeling jittery. Shouldn’t be, but I am

There's never a shortage of gas on my property. My body is my own personal refinery.

Let me know what you're cooking, and where you'll be in the days after the hurricane, so I can come and eat something good. I'm assuming you'll have a nice Beef Wellington, and maybe a pesto pasta?

Anyone know how the traffic will be around noon tomorrow in Zwolle? Should I plan on picking up my case of tamales another day?

It's not "land loss".
It's not open water, either. Whether you choose to recognize it as land or not is irrelevant. It's significant in situations such as these where more marsh/swamp means increased buffer and security from storms.
You might not be able to build a camp on it, but it's still land.

People come in here pretending they don’t want a bad storm. It’s comical.
My homeowners has tripled in the past 2 years. Yeah, I'd like to not have a bad storm. Thanks.

I cut my own grass and help run a tailgate. Between the gas needed for yard work and the generators at a tailgate, I almost always have about 10 gallons available.
