Link to these polls?

Did the poll all the casinos workers here in Vegas that haven't made any tips in 2 months?

This is the middle ground:

Every single thing is allowed to be open. People now should understand the risks of the virus and who it harms disproportionately. Social distance and wash hands with more diligence. Dont go to public spaces and events if vulnerable

That is the middle ground

I work for DOL and you're full of crap.

Pretty much the only workers who like the shutdown are those still getting paid and service sector employees.

To clarify...I don't think we need to keep everything shut down BUT we don't need to act like everything is just fine and we can completely go back to normal. Things need to be done with some caution.

We need the right to choose what to do with our lives. It's not up to the government to tell me I can't sit in a restaurant, go to a bar, or go to a sporting event because I may get sick. If that venue owner chooses to close down due to these concerns, then fine. Should never be mandated.

God what assholes wanting the working class who has been hit by this disproportionately to be able to go back to work.

Do you think Sean Hannity or Tucker Carlson would be willing to wake up in the morning and go work in a nursing home for a few weeks? Or a meat packing plant? Hell no they wouldn't. I wouldn't either. So why would they expect someone else to? Because they're elitist assholes. In my early working days in management, a very wise man told me to never ask an employee to do something you were not willing to do.

I think everyone wants the world to go back to some normalcy and for people to go back to work. I also think people want some assurance that it is safe to do so. In many areas, it likely is. In others, it is not.

For full disclosure - I have always been moderately liberal. Did not vote for Trump and in fact think he's a buffoon.

Well you’d better vote for him this November, you haughty bitch

No, 68 Percent of Americans Did Not Say They Would Avoid 'Normal Life' Until There's a Coronavirus Vaccine
CNN badly misreported a Gallup poll.

quote:

wo-thirds of Americans said they would not return to "normal life" until a vaccine becomes available for COVID-19, according to CNN.

The ramifications of this finding would be well worth discussing, since the timeline for a vaccine is unknowable: It could be available next year, in three years, or never. But it turns out that the headline, "68% of Americans say a vaccine is needed before returning to normal life, new survey finds," is fake news.

The CNN article cites a Gallup poll as its source. But Gallup did not poll respondents on the question of whether a vaccine was "needed before returning to normal life," which was CNN's wording of the question in the headline.

The actual question was "How important are each of the following factors to you when thinking about your willingness to return to your normal activities?" The option "availability of a vaccine to prevent COVID-19" was important to 68 percent of respondents. That's quite different: A vaccine could be "very important" to people without being absolutely mandatory.

For 99% percent of the population this is a non-issue.

Again, you saying it's a risk or it's dangerous doesn't make it so, and in fact the statistics say otherwise.

You are the one who insinuated Trump changed his stance from "flatten the curve" to "lockdown until a cure

No I didn't. That's you putting words in my mouth to bash while ironically talking about straw men.

I made a one off comment about the "power hungry socialist" referring to Trump. There was no insinuation nor was one necessary. I was pretty much directly saying it.

I'm not even arguing or taking any opposite position here, dingus.

You would if you needed the income to make a living and feed your family

But no, you have told those employees you know better and they shouldnt even be allowed the choice

How noble of you!!

This is completely false. I haven't heard anyone of note mention flatten the curve in a month. They are shutting down the pop-up hospitals and shuttering the Navy hospital boats. The curve is old news.

Nice try

Here is the comment you quoted

Wouldn't surprise me if this was the plan the whole time by the power hungry socialist.
You directly quoted someone talking about the plan the entire time of being locking down until a cure

So, just own it

And on the flipside, some of the biggest cheerleaders for opening it back up are the wealthy that can continue to work from home while they send their employees into a potentially dangerous environment

I own a brewery. I'm not wealthy (yet) but we gave the employees the choice to work. All but two worked this whole time.

Being in a place with 1.4 million residents, 35 deaths and 1500 infections, I'm certain there is very little danger.

Well...they do have to drive to work. And that is WAY more likely to kill them covid.
