And this is not to keep individual hospitals from being at 80% capacity or overwhelmed.

This is to keep the entire hospital SYSTEM from being overwhelmed.

I didn't claim they needed people to go back to work to make money. I said they can continue to make money working from home or from socially distanced studios, while advocating for regular Joe's to back to work in potentially unsafe conditions.

The way this pandemic has been turned into a political pawn is sickening. Healthy people have to try to get their lives back to normal. They just need to stay away for unhealthy people.

My mom helped make decisions for a parish school board in the past. She says they thought Kawasaki disease, which this new children's illness is being compared to, was most likely caused by cleaning/sanitizing products. We've all been wiping everything down, washing our hands more, using more hand sanitizer, etc. She thinks that could be the cause, not the virus itself.

I feel like there's a middle ground here that the silent majority sides with. I'm far from "everyone squeeze into public places without masks" or something. I haven't needed a mask (I don't go anywhere besides my very small local grocery store), but I wouldn't pitch a fit about wearing one. I certainly can acknowledge that the virus has been serious for certain people, and I have no issue making efforts to protect those people.

However, I do not believe tanking the economy by shutting down business indefinitely is the way to go about protecting those people.

We did our part while we monitored what was going on, and we didn't discover any hard reasoning to continue doing it. Things will be different for a while, and that's okay, but the idea that we lock down until vaccines are put out there is insane.

For full disclosure - I have always been moderately liberal. Did not vote for Trump and in fact think he's a buffoon. This had nothing to do with politics for me... until it did. If you'd have told me a year ago I'd be where I am now, I'd have never believed you. I am the womens' match hoo-rah type. But this virus has changed a LOT for me and I don't think social issues will continue to take precedence over other more important things for me going forward.

Yeah, there's a middle ground here that idiots on both sides aren't getting. I will wear a mask when I go into a building and social distance as much as possible both there and outside. But this also means I can get back to work. It's time to stop treating us like children who need a time out from the economy and start treating us as rational adults capable of measuring risks. Everyone under 40 who doesn't have a preexisting health condition should be back at work.
