Forget the official economic statistics. This is the definition of a rich man.

Simple. A rich man is a man who makes $1,000 more in salary per year than his wife’s sister’s husband.

You shouldn't count other people's money.
It will drive you mad.
It will drive you mad.

But my wife doesn’t have a sister.
And is that $1,000 before or after taxes?

A rich man is one who goes to a ball game or concert and pays no mind to the price of the concessions he consumes.
A rich man doesn’t have to think twice about leaving a large cash tip when he goes out to eat at a restaurant or putting a large contribution into the collection basket at church.
He doesn’t have to worry about meal prepping or leftovers. He buys what he wants to eat, when and where he wants it, and he can throw away or choose to save the leftovers, and neither decision matters financially in the long scheme of things.
Their bills are all on auto-pay, because the money being there to pay them is a given and requires little to no effort or thought to ensure.
The difference between a rich man and a normal man isn’t that the rich man enjoys more luxuries than the normal man. The difference is in the amount of effort, planning, and scheming required to attain them in one’s daily life. A regular man plans for a fancy night out, saves up for a vacation. A rich man just goes out to a nice restaurant or travels to a vacation destination just because they felt like it. No planning, forethought, or saving required.

Careful on your flex baw.
Once TBoy gets his associates degree from the tech college down the way he’s going to be the regional manager of all the McDonalds in your area.
Going to be calling him “boss” one day.

About 20 years ago a friend of mine and myself decided the definition of being rich. "Being able to eat at any restaurant we choose anytime we want".

I think if you have enough money to do or go wherever you want without worrying about the money….you are rich. But more importantly - you have plenty of TIME to actually go and do those things. At one point I had the time but not the money. Then I had the money but not the time. I’m finally where I have the money and the time.

I genuinely cannot understand caring how much money another person makes.

A rich man has everything he needs and wants nothing.
It starts by being grateful with what you have, and investing in the important things. Your children, your health, and a modest home.

Years ago when I was a grad student with limited funds, a friend and I were flying back through O'Hare. Two guys from Toronto joined us at the bar and ordered top of the line beers. One left to make a phone call (it was years ago). When he returned he saw a huge frozen margarita go by, and he called the waitress over and said "I want one of those". She brought it to him and he enjoyed it and never touched his beer.
That was the first "He must be rich" moment I ever felt. I had never before seen a beer left undrunk.
It was memorable and kind of sad to know I'd never have that kind of money to waste.

The rich have lots of money in the moment, but the wealthy don't worry about money.
I'll take being wealthy.
I'll take being wealthy.

Wrong. What you're describing is a mere millionaire or at most a decamillionaire. (Decamillionaire is $10 million net worth.) That's not rich,
A truly rich man is somebody like Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos who could lose 99% of their net worth, and still not be living any differently than they do now, because what the hell do you do with your money once you get past $1 billion?

Sounds like a tight-knit, loving family and all of its treasures is escaping you.
Will never be rich like that.
Will never be rich like that.

A rich man has a woman who loves him, and he her.
Kids that visit.
Family that are close.
Regardless of how much money he has.
