Obviously the price reductions are just on the msrp. You can easily get a lightning for nearly 15k -20k off msrp if you really wanted. Lot of dealers offloading their 23 stock with 7k-12k discounts and the additional 7500 Biden bucks tax credit if you qualify.

Probably easier than putting a V8 in a Tesla. The Ford is the gas truck frame I believe. Including the transmission jump in the firewall.

I think most people aren't opposed to EV's as a general concept. However, they don't see them as beneficial or cost-effective enough to outweigh the more trusted and reliable gas powered vehicles. And forcing an undesired product on the marketplace largely on the basis of "combating climate change" (which most people could not give any less of a shite about) is NOT the way to sway public opinion.

If when the EV tech/benefit improves along with the perceived value, the demand will go up organically...like most things always have in the marketplace.

Just look at cell phones. Initially, no one wanted them. They were overly expensive and most saw them as an unnecessary luxury without significant enough benefit to justify the cost. Then the technology improved and they became cheaper. At that point the market became more willing to invest and people started to realize some perceived benefit to their costs. Eventually, cell phones were ubiquitous. And people were happy just being able to call one another anytime, anywhere. The the iphone came out. At first, again, people saw it as largely an unnecessary luxury item. But once the market realized how much more it could do relative to the existing cell phone it became almost a necessity.

Right now the government (particularly one wing of the government) is trying to force those old bag car phones on the public. A public that does not want it. Instead, if the manufacturers would simply continue to improve the technology and relative costs of EV I can foresee one day EVs becoming as in demand, if not more, than our current vehicles. But that timeline doesn't fit within the existential crisis of "climate change" (on a planet that is 6 billion years old). So the market is getting fed crap it doesn't want and rejecting that crap because of it.
