Thoughts? Seems like they can coexist. This isn’t a zero sum game. Will certainly hurt them.
It's not just Disney yanking content from Netflix. It's everyone b/c all the content owners are creating their own streaming networks. Netflix produced content isn't anywhere close to being their most watched content.

Yea we need to do that.

Disney puts a blockbuster like Avengers Endgame on its platform the same day it opens in theaters.
After a few weeks it’s no longer in theaters. You can’t buy it. You can’t rent it. The only way to watch is to subscribe to Disney’s steaming service, Disney+.
I can frickin steal it.

Netflix’ strategy would have to be a partnership with whatever studios aren’t directly tied to another platform.
Disney / Fox clearly has Disney+ and Hulu
NBC Universal has Hulu and their own upcoming platform
Sony has various platforms through PlayStation but not its own movie streaming service IIRC.
WB doesn’t have its own direct streaming service but the DC streaming service is under its umbrella and has a large amount of content based on DC properties, both new series and older movies and shows.
Netflix is probably best off trying to swing a deal with Paramount, which is currently in no man’s land with regards to the various Viacom factions due to Sumner Redstone’s exit from the company and the clause in his exit barring a merger for at least two years.

This article is way overblown. Netflix isn't going anywhere. You really can't watch ONLY Disney content. And as someone mentioned, Netflix has some killer original programming. I don't plan on getting Disney+ and it's not even a consideration

As long as Netflix can put out good original content they will be fine.
When has this happened in the last 5 years? Better bust out 6 more seasons of The Ranch?

Netflix certainly isn’t doing itself any favors by cutting loved shows short to free up dollars for more original production.
Looking for a wide rather than deep library.

The two most watched shows on Netflix are Friends and The Office. Both will be gone soon enough to their parent company's soon to be streaming services (WB and NBC/Universal).

So long Netflix? Meh. So long comcast? Hell yeah. If I can pay only $6.99 and still get all the ESPN Channels, I'm cutting that cord pronto.

Eventually we'll all be back on bundled cable packages

Think about it in the context of the subscriber that's a young couple with limited resources and a toddler. Disney's going to rape that market share away from other streaming services and THAT is the market share that's primed for growth, both as the parents have more money to spend on products Disney is pimping and in the next generation of consumers that's going to grow up watching Disney+.
We're talking about a company here that made a movie for kids about a hockey team then literally the next year started a new franchise with the same name with the intent that the massive number of kids watching their movie would become fans of their (now real) team for decades into the future. It didn't pan out, but that's the kind of game Disney plays.

So three show. One if which can't sustain after about two more season due to aging stars and the other who just put out a new season consisting of a total of three episodes.

I gave 3 examples. There’s tons of good original content on Netflix

Netflix is going to lose content but not enough subscribers to matter. Honestly, who here would even consider cancelling their Netflix?
Amazon has their streaming tied to Prime which insulates them. They also have the HBO catalogue.
Disney is a majority owner of Hulu so I don’t see them disrupting Hulu.
There will be attempts to wall off content by some conglomerates but I really don’t see things changing that much in the next few years.
The biggest mistake these very smart people are making is to use one property as bait to have people sign up for the service. We saw that with CBS and the new Star Trek show last year.
You can’t bait subscribers with one show. They will just watch it somewhere else on the shady side.
This is why The Mandelorian isn’t gonna work for Disney plus.

Like has been said above, the end result of all this greed will be 35 streaming services you have to buy to get what you want and it will end up more expensive than Cox or UVerse was. Now, if Disney bundled ESPN with all of the other stuff and had DVR and live TV of all it owns, 7 bucks would be a bargain. But so far DirecTV Now is the closest I have seen to a good deal but then Fubo has more sports but doesnt have ESPN and this has this but doesnt have this, etc....It's not really cutting the chord when you have to subscribe to all of these services.

Ozark, Peaky Blinders, Orange is the New Black and Trailer Park Boys are 4 more.

For example, the only place your children or grandchildren will be able to see Toy Story 4 and Frozen 2 may be on Disney+.
Or on Plex after i download the torrent for free.
I still like the idea and i hope there's a package that i can purchase that will have all the disney+ content, as well as all the ESPN channels.
