I was in that boat to some extent until I met my wife. Smart*ss, attractive, adventurous. Been together 30 years and can’t imagine anything different. She still makes me laugh and attractive as ever in my eyes. Sometimes it just clicks.

I came out of a particularly bad relationship and just decided to shut the dating bullshite down. I still like it, but realized I didn’t need it. Once I realized that fact, life got exponentially simpler.
No more worries about money. Because of this, I was able to retire about 5 years earlier! These are my best years yet.

I think you're looking at it like the only two options are a relationship or nothing. That's not really how life works. You can have family, friends, hobbies, purpose, and a full life whether you're dating someone or not.
A relationship should add to your life, not be the only thing that gives it meaning.
My family is my two daughters and me. Even when they're not with me, I don't feel like I'm coming home to nothing. I know our relationship is strong whether we're together or not. A relationship isn't the only thing that gives your life meaning. And if that is how you truly feel, you most likely don't need to be in a relationship until you can learn to love and count on yourself.

After me and the long time girl split about 15 years ago I've been on dates and such through the years but as I get older I've noticed that modern 40-somethings just live their lives doing whatever social media tells them to do. I haven't even bothered in a year or so after my last attempt at a relationship had to break things off because she "couldn't date a sober man". Yeah, she's mid 40's and still wants to go partying and such with her kids at home. I've pretty much given up. It's much more peaceful and financially satisfying not trying to court these drones.
I've been separated/divorced for almost five years. When it happened, my daughters were 12 and 15.
My ex-wife started seeing someone before our divorce was even finalized, and they're now engaged. I chose a different path. I took time to focus on myself and, more importantly, on my girls. I've dated here and there, but nothing serious or long-term because I wanted them to know they came first.
I remember hearing Dr. Laura talk about not getting seriously involved with someone while your kids are still at home, and I thought it was really good advice. Her point wasn't that you should never move on or find happiness again. It was that your kids are already dealing with a major change, and they need stability, your attention, and to know they are your priority.
My youngest will be 18 soon. At that point, I'll feel like I've done what I set out to do as a dad, and I'll be ready to put more focus into building a relationship for myself. Until then, my focus has been on being the best dad I can be. And I continue to do just that, something that I am very proud of.

Haven't given up per se but had some major medical issues arise and I don't want to be a burden.
Need an organ transplant and I'll get back in. I was having fun and living the fun single life and then this hit and I have to work so much just to pay medical mini time to get out there. Then a 3' tube hanging from my stomach kills self conscious. Haven't dated since last September.

I'm cool with being single. I've have 4 long term relationships, including a marriage. I'm at the stage of "don't care, but open to it happening"
My last girlfriend was an absolute nutcase, to the point where I'd drive home and sit in my car for 30 minutes, just to mentally prepare for whatever bullshite I was about to walk into. That's no way to live

Sounds like we have both lived the same exact way.
I’ve always had a don’t care attitude about women and that has seemed to attract the wrong ones. I definitely have an Avoidant attachment style.

Most Baws don't give up on women, woman give up on them.
But to be honest, every one I've ever dated/married has been a pain in my arse (other than the poon).

I think I could live by myself and be fine and happy. Some folks can't live alone - I'm not one of those.
That don't mean I would give up women though.

Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. Is it better to come home to peace and quiet or an absolute crazy woman that gives you pussy?
