I’m contemplating a move out West. For the people that live in places like Idaho and Montana, what do you all do for work?
I’m in a big East coast city working a job I hate in an industry I don’t like. I’m 35 but have nothing really tying me down I guess except fear of what I’ll do for income if I move out there. I crave nature and the outdoors.

No. But my high school was about 50% minority.

Don’t bother arguing about the food. It’s really hard for people in the south to understand that there are places outside the south with good food.
They don't understand food seasoned with things other than salt, and cayenne pepper.

The United States isn't really comparable to Nigeria in my personal opinion

I have an opinion on the thought of southern food being “the best.”
I think the south surpasses the rest of the country in food that is absurdly delicious and flavorful at a reasonable price.
Many people in the south have now taken that to mean “our food is better than anywhere else,” which is just wrong.
Most major cities have better food, restaurants, and options than the south by a mile. You just have to be willing to pay more than what people in the south are normally accustomed to. Which on the OT, I don’t understand the problem. Everyone is insanely wealthy here.

It is. People from the North are blown away when they try southern BBQ.
I've never been blown away by any dish I've tried when I visited New York or Minneapolis

I can’t speak to Minneapolis, but if you’ve never been blown away by a dish in New York, you’re going to the wrong places. Which is understandable, because there are so many options compared to the south it’s insane.
Yes, the BBQ in the south is good. But one genre of food does not make for the best food anywhere. That’s a ridiculous argument. People lose their minds for Maine lobster, but I don’t think Maine has the best food in the country.

I never said it did.
Add in southern homestyle cooking, southern seafood and Mexican food and the South stands alone

Ok, but what you just said doesn’t refute my argument in the slightest.
I said that most big cities have better food than the south. I stand by that.
But yes, the Mexican food and southern cooking is better in the south.

I assume hes counting Texas as the south. I chose to let that go rather than point out California and the Southwest easily has better Mexican food.

I've been to some good spots in Cali before and it wasn't better than anything I couldn't get in Houston or San Antonio

That’s a really cool story.
Still doesn’t refute the argument that most major cities have better food than the south.
