Would you ever leave the nation’s greatest region and move back south?

Asking for a friend.

If the price is right and depends on the quality of life I’m living up there.

I haven't lived there, but I travel the area a bit for work. I always want to get back home. The mountains are beautiful, but the the region as a whole seems to miss on food, music, and culture in general. It has that isolated weird white people vibe. And it doesn't have the gulf. Just my 2 cents.

ETA:

If I moved there, it would be WA. I need pro sports.

For lack of a better word, a southerner who moved northwest. Is there a better term? If so, I’ll use it.

People who live there have a reason for living there. They wouldn’t move.

I did for work reasons. Looking to move back. The cold up there is an issue much like the heat and humidity is down south. There is a choice between being surrounded by friends and family or beautiful landscape. Its a tough decision.

Overall I would agree but there are some great towns that offer the above.

Bend
Missoula
Portland
Seattle
Bozeman
Jackson
Boise
Coeur D’Alene
Whitefish
Leavenworth
Spokane

I may be missing a few more

I doubt they would, scared shitless of the Colored people, and them moving into their neighborhoods.

My sister lives near Seattle. They are looking to move somewhere warmer, drier, and less dreary in winter.

I’m gonna get my fix in Montana and will be looking into moving to coastal northern Cal for better weather.

Oh, I agree. It isn't void of those things, it just doesn't compare to the SE. It still can't shake that weird segerated white people vibe.

I like the contrast.

We've been slowly moving toward mid-May through mid-Sept in MT (usually w stops in CO/NM en rt).

Mid/late Spring, Fall and Holidays in South.

Lots of ski season (mid-Jan through early April) in MT.

The weather in GA right now is unbelievably perfect. So no complaints. Fishing and camping by a lake right outside town.

Also, I have to be near family, and MT is a long way for everyone to travel. And i love the Gulf (Forgotten Coast) and the marshes of the Low country and the Appalachians too much to totally abandon it all.

But forced to pick one, MT wins all day long.

I am a native New Yorker. I have lived in the Deep South and the Rocky Mountains since I was a boy. Those are the only two areas I would live . I personally prefer the quality of life in the mountains and I prefer the people of the South.
