36
It will be 5 years next month. I still feel like I need to ask him fatherly advice almost every week about something.

The hardest, most difficult period of my life, was the six months I watched my dad fight lung cancer. He was an amazing man who gave his life for his wife and kids, literally. Just be present and with him now.

Both of mine are still alive at 44 so I can't empathize but I did have friends whose parents passed pretty young.
My mom had her dad until 3 years ago and still has her mom around. My mom is 66. She is fortunate. My grandmother is at a point where she may get to see great-great grandkids. My grandmother, mom, and sister all had kids fairly young.

46. He passed away last Thursday at the age of 83. He had an aneurysm in the middle of October and had been on a downward slide since then. I am thankful for all the time we had together. I'm sad, of course, but I'm glad he's no longer suffering.

Lost my Dad at 20. It hurt and I was sick for a year, but I would go through it again just to get a year of conversation with him at 41. Had a great father in-law, and this dumbass lady on meth hit him going 100mph on the wrong side of a divided two lane highway. Telling my 5yo that his pop pop was no longer with us was one of the hardest things I have ever done.

28; he was 65. It’s been over 30 years and miss him, still.

32. Spent the last 9 months of his life by his bedside taking care of him. First diaper I ever changed was my dad’s. Brain cancer

I was 12 he was 60. I was a late in life baby obviously. It’s crazy how at 43 I have very few memories from that time of my life but I remember the day he died like it happened yesterday. My son will be 4 this year and it has made me think about him even more. Just so much life he’s missed out on. It stupid, I know, but sometimes when I’m cutting the grass or just doing random stuff around my house I catch myself talking to him out loud. Telling him about his grandson and how mom is driving me up the wall.

29. Worst day of my life.

20, I walked to my parents house after a night out drinking. I woke up to the sound of my dad collapsing of a heart attack taking down decorations onthe Christmas tree. My mom was out grocery shopping. When I showed up to the house obliterated, it was nice see my dad still awake and chatting with him in my drunken stupor.

Sitting in the ER with my Dad at the moment. We are watching the raiders chargers. He is 84 and had a heart attack last Wednesday. Having trouble breathing and has pneumonia, no COVID. I am 53, not sure how much time he has left but I don’t think it is long.
